  • Thanks for the input (ha ha, bad pun). No, I didn't already know that. I've been reading some posts on shacking and the grail stuff, but it is quite confusing. With the aux input, can you assign two different sounds if you use a splitter (and, likewise, different levels of eq, threshold, etc)? Do you...

  • Adding trigger inputs

I amwondering what the simplest and least expensive way to add trigger inputs to the TD-8 is. I've seen the TMC-6 that Roland recently released, but I'm not quite sure how it works. Are there other, less expensive methods? Does anyone have a TMC-6 with soome recomendations?

    Thanks,

    Build your own . . .

While looking at the Best Buy ad in the paper today, the thought of building my own woofer cabinet came to me. I have no real knowledge of this endeavor, so I was wondering if anyone else knew how this might be done? I saw a pair of 12", 300-watt woofers for about $100, and I thought that it may...

  • I'm in the same boat as ufotofu: I'm not completely sure what this TD-8 does. It is really something worth all of the hastle, or is it an application-specific update only necessary for those with V-Cymbals? If someone could simply lay down the specifications of this update, I would be quite appreciative....

Sorry about that, guys. I didn't mean to mess up everything. Next time I'll let you know beforehand so as not to disturb the EM fields around your sadly sarcastic minds.

    Polar Switch?

While examining some of my gear, I found a switch on the PD-7 on the side underneath the pad. Not having a manual (one is coming from Roland, hopefully soon), I'm not quite sure what the function of this switch is. Thanks for the help.

  • Ok, I found a solution. I checked MARS's refund policy, and it's 30 days with receipt. So I went ahead and bought the JBL Eon 15P for $400, knowing that I can return it if it doesn't do the job. It's got good bass, and I think it's pretty clear. All the sounds are replicated well. I did notice, however,...

  • OK, just got back from my Mars trip . . .they were of little help. The pro audio manager wanted me to run Cds through the systems, and they wouldn't let me use a Eon 15 cuz they didn't have any on the floor (they were all in boxes). I ain't shelling out $400 for something I've never heard, so I guess...

  • About the yamaha . . . I checked the specs on it, and it seems cool. However, the max SPL is 124.5 db versus the JBL Eon 15p's 127. Now, as technical as that may sound, what does it mean in real application? Am I gonna notice that? Is the yamaha reliable, and is its 400w THAT MUCH better than JBL's...

  • I've got an appointment at Mars Music this thursday, and they're setting up an Eon 15 (not G2), a KC-300, and a PA system comparible to the afforementioned Kustom systems. I can't afford the G2, and the Eon 15 seems to be the best I can get for my budget. At $400, is there a single piece of equipment...

  • Just gotta give my props to all you upstarts! I'm just getting into the electronic drumming/PC recording scene, and it's truly encouraging to see peers also starting from scratch and doing quite well. These 'rough' recordings all sound like boatloads of potential -> wish I could see some of you guys...

  • Thanks for the help, guys. I just took a trip to MARS Music and talked with both a drum guy (who at the time happened to be playing a V-Studio through a KC-500) and a pro audio guy. The drummer said they had blown out several KC series keyboard amps, and although they were ok, they were nothing great....

  • Latency Problems with Cool Edit 2000

I'm running my TD8 module (and v-custom kit) through my standars sound card input into Cool Edit 2000. I'm using the 4-track pluggin, but for some reason, the timing almost seems to oscillate. I played along with a CD on my V-Drums, transfered the drum audio into a wave file, and then tried to sync...

    Inexpensive PA System

I just purchased a used V-Custom kit, and I am very pleased with it. I'm looking to amp it for rehearsals/small gigs, and my wallet is thin. I've looked at the Roland KC series as well as some inexpensive PA systems. I'm looking to spend less than $400.

    How does this system look:
