I've got the CY15r ride cymbal, and reckon it's much better than the standard rubber pads. It took a bit of tweeking to get the sensitivity right (and I did the famous 'V-ride fix'), but now I wouldn't be without it. I'm hoping to get a couple of the smaller v-cymbals to use as crahses soon - I th...

I have a couple of those clamps pictured, and I think they're rubbsih. Proper rack clamps that hinge open, with decent bars for tightening are so much better. It is a joke to slide those clamps off the end of the rack just because you want to move something.
A friend is about to buy a TD8kv...

Quote: "Fill her up on the Brand New Day sting Cd is really good and i dont think anyone could play it that way" er... I may be wrong, but isn't it Manu Katche who plays on the Brand New Day album?? In which case the drumming on 'Fill Her Up' could be played by someone else, and in fact was. Mike....

Mesh pad wanted
Wanted: PD80, PD80r, or PD120.
Basically, I want an extra pad to use on my TD8 - anything considered. UK only.
Cheers,
Mike.

I went with the standard two pieces of (black) electrical tape, one on top of the other. I tried not to let the tape overlap the sides of the groove.
It is fine now - maybe not as sensitive as some... but I can just about get a trigger with the tip of the stick, and with the shoulder it...

After a couple of months reading these threads; I finally did the V-ride bell fix over the weekend. Despite the horrified looks from my wife, I stuck on some tape, put it back together, and now have a bell that does what I always hoped it would.
Thanks again for the fix, and for posting...

Mike.

Old electric kit - interesting
Thought some of you might be interested in this picture:
I saw it for sale on ebay (UK)...
Anyone used something like this?

I'd take the PD120 off your hands if anyone wants the rest of the kit a bit cheaper?
Presumably, one of your four toms is actually the PD80R? In which case that would be their positional sensing pad to use as the snare.
Mike.

I would have loved to have helped - but I've not created such a kit.
If you do create something that sounds good, maybe you could post your kit here? Or on a site like: http://www.tdi.formativ.net/syxdownl.htm
Cheers,
Mike.

p.s. you'll find that your P.A. / soundman etc makes more difference to the quality of what the audience hears than the module!

Hello and welcome!
There are lots of threads about TD8 vs TD10 on this forum - try using the search...
The sounds are not much different, the biggest difference is that the TD8 is a bit less flexible:
- less outputs
- less editable functions
However,...

Yes, you have two options:
1. Buy a soundcard with midi sockets built in (e.g. Soundblaster Audigy Platinum), cost approx 150 quid. This gives you lots of other features besides midi sockets.
2. Buy a PC midi interface. I have one TO SELL that gives you 2 midi in and 2 midi out for your...
