  • Heh, I did get that KD-80 (little over a year ago), but I'd still be up for swapping beaters. I recently moved, so let me make sure I can find the box that has it before we work out a swap. I'll send you a message shortly.

  • Free: my (very) old acoustic set, Austin only

Moved into a much smaller space, and it's time to part with my old acoustics. It was a hand-me-down set to begin with, and I was going to give it to Goodwill, but figured maybe someone here would have a use for them. Bass, tom, floor tom, hi-hat, ride, crash, even an old make-shift throne made from...

replied to Using KD7 with KD80
I'm pretty sure I have it set to "KD Type", I think the problem is that it's going through my KD7. If I recall correctly there's some kind of sensitivity dial on the KD7, although I don't know if it's sensitivity for that trigger, or for the trigger chained to it. Might play with that and...

    Using KD7 with KD80

Has anybody tried using these together? I got a KD80 for Christmas (little slow hooking it up, what can I say), but I only have single pedals. I'd been using a pair of KD7's chained together, and tried putting the KD80 in place of the second KD7, but I have to slam on it to get it to trigger. I've...

I'll play around with the pre-recorded bit tonight and see if I can get anything. If you're not using every input, perhaps you could make up a special kit with the congas on your unused inputs, move some pads over to the inputs to record the pattern, then move them back to the normal inputs to play...

    replied to TD-6 dead?
Crisis averted. Unplugged every cable, let it sit, plugged in power and fired it up, and after a sec it came back up. Thought all the cables felt snug, but must have had a short or something somewhere. That almost really sucked

    TD-6 dead?

Lucky me, looks like I'm brain-dead. Worked last night, doesn't work this afternoon. Only thing that changed is that I plugged it back in to my computer (which is how it was two weeks ago before I left), but I unplugged it and it still doesn't work. The display powers up, but it's blank, and none...

  • Never did solve that problem properly. Just got used to the feel. And I asked for a KD-80 for Christmas

I currently have a paired KD-7 setup right now. About the only thing I'd offer up as a warning is that you should try and get your triggers with roughly the same amount of wear on them (if you're buying a used one). That, and make sure that you get the same type of beaters for them. I currently have...

  • Yeah, that's right about what I paid for mine last year. And the free shipping is nice; these things are pretty big. You might be able to get that in an email and take it to a Guitar Center, but then you'd have to try and get them to knock off sales tax too. Personally I'd get them from bpmmusic,...

  • Yeah, I'd recommend a V-Club, I think it's a really great starting point for a hobbiest, as it's really upgradable and fairly expandable. You can start by adding a mesh pad to use as a snare, upgrade/add more pads later, and even swap out the TD-6 (the "brains" of the system) for the same...

Yeah, that's one of the shortcomings of the TD-6. Unless you want to go into each pad and adjust the volume settings there, you're going to need to do some kind of workaround like you mentioned. I think that's one of the advantages the TD-10 (maybe the 8 too?) has over the TD-6.

  • There are smaller versions as well, which are the PD-80/PD-80R (the R having a rim trigger as well). Both are mesh pads.
