DW 5000 double pedal setup question
I want to (if this is at all possible) raise the height of the footboards on both the pedals slightly. I have the Chain Drive, Accelerator model. During the random inspections of my pedals, I noticed that there are four holes on the sprockets that the chains are connected to. The chains fit into on...

For all those using an e-mail client program (such as Outlook Express) to check their e-mail, then may I let you know about a brilliant little application called POPFile. It's awesome. Once you give it a bit of spam to train on, it searches for variants of any spam messages and flags them up as spam...

Increasing the spring tension in the left pedal deadens the swing even further, unfortunately. As to the connecting arm between the two pedals, the drum key nuts, and the "dw" printed letters are facing me, so I doubt that an exaggerated angle could be to blame here...

DW5000 double pedal setup: help needed
I recently bought a DW5000 double pedal (the Accelerator drive system model). I have set everything up and the two pedals work just fine, with one exception, which could have a potentially huge negative impact on my bass drum technique as I start using my feet more.
This is that the right...

I think it's important not to lean back when you're playing double bass with both heels up. For one thing, you spine being at an angle to your center of gravity (your hips) will have already unbalanced you, but you will be further unbalanced when you start moving your arms around the kit for a fill,...Last edited by Electrode; 02-21-06, 07:58 PM.

I want to know how Johnny Rabb gets all those crazy effects - i.e. what cymbals he's using, and what drums he's placing the cymbals on (as well as where he's placing the cymbals on the drums), in order to get the kind of gated or processed sound he gets out of an acoustic kit. It would be cool to do...

Well, there is also the American grip, which is a hybrid of French and German grips. If you look at Dom Famularo's video lessons on VicFirth.com, Dom explains what all three grips are, lays out some of their uses and strengths, and demonstrates each grip both on a practice pad and full kit.

Bear in mind that pivoting your wrist works better with a French grip-based position (thumb on top or near the top of the stick) rather than a German grip-based position (thumb on the side of the stick). With a German position, wrist pivoting is much harder (and potentially can screw up your wrist)...

Badnomad and Jeffdrummer,
The Vic Firth page on drum rudiments is still up. It's here: http://www.vicfirth.com/education/rudiments.html There are downloadable PDFs for each "quadrant" (with each quadrant containing ten rudiments that are either basic ones, in the case of Quadrant A,...

Just another point, for those who could be confused by StevenK's post. The VH-11 will only have full functionality with the TD-12. It does not have full functionality with the TD-20, or any other Roland V-Drum module. For the TD-20, you'll need the VH-12. You're better off sticking with the CY-12H or...

I have the TD-10 with TDW-1 and V-Cymbal control. (VKitTransEX reports that I have TD-10 Software Revision 2.00.00.247 installed.) Since you have converted kits, there is no longer any need for me to have the older version of VKitTrans. I will PM you with my e-mail address so that you can send me the...

Thanks for the reply, Boingo. So, from what you've said, which makes perfect sense, the upgrades are similar to FlashROM upgrades, or flashing a computer BIOS, or upgrading the firmware of a piece of hardware, that sort of thing. So, quite obviously, my suggestion wouldn't work.

Does anyone have the old version of VKitTrans? + Broken links on patches page
I tried downloading the VKitTrans program from this site, which I found out was actually the beta version of VKitTransEX (which I'm assuming is an upgrade). I have also downloaded some of the patches from this site, which I unfortunately cannot open using VKitTransEX, due to something like an "incompatible...
