Agreed! I've owned "pro" gear and in my opinion, is over rated and over priced in most cases. Compared to Alesis, Roland's pricing is absured....

I understand what he meant. The price is so amazing that even if you devide the price by the # of components, eeach is less than $50. There is not a component that is not worth at least that and the module is worth much more. With a few adjustments to the settings, it "plays" as good as any...

How's this for insane? There are 11 components in the kit including the rack, module, etc. Each component averages to $47.45 per!!!! I really like the sizes. 8/10/12/12 pads and 14/16 cymbals. Excellent isolation on the dual snare and triple ride....

Alesis DM8 PRO
WOW! I purchased this kit for my church. Got a price match delivered for $522. I'm very impressed with the pad sizes, sounds, adjustment pirameters and of course the price. I've owned higher end Roland kits and and would not hesitate taking this kit out to gigs.

There are 2 different models/pics here. If you read there are 2 different model #'s. The top pic is the stage version the bottom is the studio version. It appears the TD-30 will be replacing the TD-20 and TD-12 kits. Does anyone else agree?

Yes, it is coupled with an interface box. I know little to nothing about the technology. It was explained to my local dealer, All Pro Percussion in Tampa, as similar to an electric guitar pick-up. maybe someone here could elaborate on that.

Zildjian hybrid cymbals [Acoustic-Electric]
I did a search and could not believe this has not been discussed yet. It is the most groundbreaking E product since the introduction of the mesh head IMHO. Roland is aware and I believe is on board already. Here is the youtube teaser:

I have been able to try this out several times. My first impression was good. My second impression was even better to the point that I'm going to purchase soon. I will post a complete review at that point. Here are a few observations and opinions.
I really like the feel of the pads as...

This is my last post here until I try this first hand for myself. It is obvious I'm pretty excited about this release. I rerally like Pearl as a company and want this to be more than maybe it is. I can only go on what I see and hear on the videos for now. I can live with a single volume rim and single...

Here is another YouTube video. It is the best I've found that you can actually hear the buzz roll demo. Cymbal swell sound good also. I did not notice one missed hit and Raymod played with wide dymanics.

Hi Peter,
I will of course try before I buy. Yamaha and Roland pads play well on default settings because they are manufactured together. Looking at the video I posted (with the module obviously adjusted) , it appears that Raymond had zero "dropped" hits. All I have been attempting...

The variable that we don't know is how long Pearl had to play with the module before NAMM. Their time may have been limited. In comparing the day 1 videos of Ramond to the day 3 video shows me that HIS the modules were adjusted durring NAMM. Raymond never hit a rim in the frist videos. By day 3 he was...

The 4 kits responded identically because they were factory default settings. I was not there so I cannot comment on bounce, first hand. I will say that the brush kit sampling on the video I posted did seem to indicate that light strokes and stick drops on the snare head tracked well. While I'll agree...

Pearl impressed more than just the general public. The E-Pro won "Best in Show". I'll post my review as soon as I 1) can test the kit in a store that will allow me to play with the module settings or 2) buy the thing and test assuming I like the feel of the pads. We have a couple of months...Last edited by cliff; 01-22-10, 07:19 AM.
