It's really infuriating that this is the case. I would have already ordered the upgrade if all the inputs worked, but now I most likely won't upgrade at all.
It's hard to imagine a business decision that would simultaneously limit what your customers might buy from you, and add more used product...

Questions on headphones
I just read through the many comments on the "Once and for all headphones", but still have some questions about how you guys go about choosing headphones.
I'm starting to get back into playing more seriously and would like to invest in a great pair of headphones. I have a pair...

Thanks! I was looking for something more for the desktop, not having considered an iPad app. I'll look into that.

Requesting help with drum notation software
Hey Gang,
I'm interested in becoming a little better at training my ear in deciphering drum parts, and I thought the best way to do it would be to pick a few songs that I struggle a bit to figure out, and spend the time to write out the notation for them.
I was thinking that...

If it's playing technique, then it's the conversation about 'playability', not sonic palette, IMO.
As an art school graduate (did I just admit that!?), my palette was a mechanism that gave me the colors to paint with. My TD-30KV is my palette that gives me the sounds to play with....

Tommy_D, I think you've got it right. I think the V-Drums are the drum version of the Fractal Guitar FX Processor. There's a lot to handle and it can be daunting, and even if you love it like I do, sometimes you're just like 'Ugh, I just want to play...'...

I enjoy the occasional trip to Guitar Center, but I never buy anything there.
The sad truth, at least in my area, is that they cater to the novice far too much, and have brands that they obviously push really hard, without having brands and products I'm interested in. Case in point is Axis...

I'm not sure what you definition is of "sonic palette", but I'd offer that it's much greater in the Roland kit than any acoustic kit. I have a series of drum kits set up for songs I enjoy playing; each kit is tweaked to sound like the song or band it's for. I have that option with the Roland...

If you own an iPad there are a few (not enough in my opinion) options for sampler apps. I use the Alesis io Dock to connect a midi cable.

Loved watching these, especially the Jupiter one. You're totally feeling that song, looks like you're having a blast.

I'm pretty much always trying to get it exactly as it is on the original. I play along to songs a lot, but I play to them because I love either the song, the drums, or both.
I might embellish after I know it perfectly, but I have to make sure I know it perfectly before messing around, or...

hairmetal-81, this is fantastic, thank you. I'm following all these companies (Modern Drummer, Drum!, SickDrummer) on Facebook that said they were attending NAMM and they were going to post news and updates, and it's all like.... useless updates on almost nothing, and pictures of people partying. These...

Anyone used an eKIC?
I love the Roland KD-7's, and just now saw Alternate Mode's eKIC (http://www.alternatemode.com/cart/in...dshow&ref=ekic). Is anyone using them, ideally two of them daisy-chained in a double-kick setup, and could you share a few words on how you like it/them?
I've...
