My last performance on the HPD-20 (for now), was a few weeks back. Now we are using A's. See my other thread. :-)
All I have to take to gigs now are a few pairs of sticks, and a clamp-on stick holder for the music stand, they provide the rest. :-)
It's temporary though, I think the HPD-20...

While my attitude was mostly tongue and cheek, the facts are accurate. The lesson, to let bandmates hear e-drums in full a-drum-volume glory at least briefly, so they can appreciate them, I think is actually legit. :-)
Now that I'm on A's, hitting it harder is part of the gig. :-)...

Yet another 'I played 'A's for the first time', sadly stuck there now.
This morning. The actual playing was a non-event, I've read about how to play cymbals correctly with sticks, so I knew what to do.
Took a song or two to get dialed in to a basic level.
Here is the story in brief(ish):
I used to bring a micro E-kit, but the other guys...Last edited by kurth83; 03-18-19, 01:29 AM.

I can save the whole thing, it would overwrite any patches you had if you uploaded it. And to merge them with your patches you would have to do what I did above, copy down the parameters and transfer by hand. I found an open source patch librarian project for the HPD-20 save files, but it's incomplete...

Patches for using a Roland Handsonic HPD-20 as a full Kit without pedals
Warning, my drumming is pretty pedestrian, basic beats and fills, I don't think you would us a handsonic try try to emulate fancier drumming. :-)
Fixed width font chosen so the text tables align correctly.
Here is a video of how I play, this was right when I was starting out:...Last edited by kurth83; 01-15-19, 04:34 PM.

Looks like I need to copy out the patches by hand and convert to text, the save to usb function is the whole thing, not a per patch thing.
Give me a few days to put that together.
It's only three kits that are my workhorses, and they share a lot of parameters between them,...

Hah, missed this before I posted in the other thread. I'm still using mine too - as a full kit replacement. Last sunday morn I stood up while playing, since I don't use pedals any more. I also had to spend a lot of time with it to get it to sound decent, but it does have decent sounds in there, they...

Performed on my HPD-20 last sunday morn.
I have patches that don't require pedals, so I decided to compete with the guitar players and singers and I STOOD UP.. Haha, take that... :-)
I always use it as a full kit, the 10 pads get me kick, snare, two toms, rim, and some cymbal...Last edited by kurth83; 01-14-19, 09:40 PM.

I've been performing on an HPD-20 in church for a few years now. Leading up to that was an obsession with micro kits, the last and smallest one was an Alesis Octapad MIDI'd to a TD-9.
On the HPD-20 I made some kits that allow me to simulate what a full drum kit does with no pedals, just...

I had bedbugs for years, CImexa was the only thing that killed them effectively, but it didn't finish the job until I understood they were living in the bed. I have a mattress on a flat wood surface, on a metal frame (visible in one of the pics). I covered that wood surface under the mattress with Cimexa....You do not have permission to view this gallery.

Sorry, late to this party, I recently bought some of these, fantastic for impact noise dampening, heavy and expensive, but gets the job done well:

They mention drum risers on their page too. You can see my review of it on...Last edited by kurth83; 10-02-18, 04:38 PM.

First, before I considered soundproofing I would would consider moving the kit into the living room.
I would never put a noise-making thing in a bedroom directly over or under another person's sleeping area.
Soundproofing is one of my things. You have a hard problem IMHO. I can't...

I have multiple things in my life that can cause ear damage, I ride motorcycles (very bad), have to sleep with noise makers (finding a safe volume was tough), and am regularly exposed to loud bands, PAs, etc.
From moto riding I learned how to use foam earplugs properly, meaning deeply inserted...Last edited by kurth83; 03-28-18, 04:22 PM.
