I hope you changed out the battery, but if you didn't you now know how to open the case. I've done a lot of troubleshooting. First, don't take the persons assessment on faith ask questions to find out as much as possible. Go for the simple first don't overthink it. And, it's rarely multiple things...

As long as everything is at the same potential there is no real risk of static discharge. Handling the case as the screws are removed will equalize any difference in charge and should be sufficient. Always handle by the case and you won't have any issues. You can use a tooth brush, Q-tips, etc just...

Yes, with everything unplugged there iare no signals present at any input so no way crosstalk settings, etc are doing this.

I'd go with the good cleaning. It's safe to blow out the unit, but I would not use a vacuum brush on the circuit board.

    Some of the electronic devices...

With all past & current Roland modules you have just the sounds built into the module to work with. You can modify/tweek them, but you cannot import samples.

You can use the module via midi to a computer to run VST software that has more flexibility and does allow picking samples outside...

Why the snare first any defect has to start somewhere. I would certainly not advocate opening a new device, but this has been out of production for some time, so I'm just figuring it's used. There is no harm to doing a cleaning of the input jacks if done with a small degree of care even if it can...

OK, now that we know it is on one input only and the rim specifically, my best guess is a mechanical/contact issue. It could be in the electronics, as Michael suggests, but lets try and rule out the input jack and this is just a try, but I'm hopeful that this is the problem.

    I'm thinking...

I believe what Ordac...bia (I had to google it; I always said my first name was too long just saying) is indicating is his module triggers randomly from the snare input (he has changed the sound for that input and changed kits) even with ALL input cables disconnected. So the issue is in the module....

Diagnostics are sometimes difficult in person and certainly more difficult for us here, so please be far more specific.

When you say "still nothing" do you mean the random sane sound is still there?

You say you have unplugged all the cables to the module and still...

This all hinges on the trigger being a look-alike for a BT-1. Just change the look and there should be no issue.

As far as a judge making some distinction, that means someone is being $ued. Depends on what a corporation feels is appropriate to protect their product. A one-off from a private...

I agree with used/secondhand. It could take months to nail down a good kit, but that gives you time to look around (manufacturer's sites, YouTube, this forum, eBay, CL) and get an idea of price and what is being said about sound and pad differences.

I (hardly) played my A kit as the years...
