replied to vocal mic in the AUX in (td25k)
The mike output is a low level signal and would need a mike amplifier (a mixer will have the mike amp built-in to the input section). The AUX in's are line level OK for a mixer output, CD player out, stereo receiver outs, etc.

You can try plugging a mike directly into the AUV in, but...

I just checked out a momentary switch on the kick input on my TD-20X module. Tip & sleeve will produce a trigger signal, you just forgo the velocity (volume range) the piezo allows. That seems like a reasonable trade off to get what you need. I would expect all other Roland modules will behave the...

replied to TD 30 output level
I took a quick look at the mixer you are using.

The direct outs on the TD-30 are line level. Your mixer has eight 1/4" inputs that take line level signals. You are likely overdriving the XLR mike inputs on the mixer....

Output levels for the direct outs can be adjusted in the module. Download it here

Check out page 115 for starters. Since this needs to be done in the module, you will...

  • Yes, I just did a search and see some users are seeing better response on the aD5. Again, the mod did solve the issue with my TD-20X. Roland should have seen this in the early development of the CY-15 and worked it out before release and at the very least corrected it after such a simple user fix...

  • The "bell trigger" on the CY-15 is just a switch like the edge trigger two strips of foil tape that make contact when you hit the cymbal in that area. You either make contact or you don't. The one piezo on the bow picks up velocity of the hit and the module detects it as bow, bell (if the...

replied to Check Battery of TD-30
I replaced the battery in my TD-20 a month ago just as a preventative measure I lost all my custom data on my old TD-8 with no warning from a low battery. I did a back-up, but I did a fast swap out on the battery with no data loss and no need to reload from the back-up. Roland should have made the...
