    More GAS than talent unfortunately. I also prefer to take advantage of E's as pad size doesn't relate to sound, so I like the 10" toms and smaller cymbals than A's; easier to get around.     The newer Pro snare is really good and a significant upgrade to the older model. I can also say that going from the TD-8 to the TD-20X is at least as comparable an upgrade and well worth it (or a currently shipping module from Roland, ATV, Pearl Mimic, etc. as the budget affords).     I have both CY-12's & CY-14's. I chose both sizes for visual look. A larger crash seems just slightly nicer to me, but I don't find the difference is that great.

    I have the TD-20 w/expansion card, so I can comment from that perspective. The manual for the expansion does not indicate any better triggering improvements for the VH-12. Here are links to Roland's site for the TD-20
