  • For what it’s worth, I ran a Focusrite Clarett 4pre over USB-C until just recently and had no issues. Ended up putting an RME HDSPe AIO in my SD3 box and moved my Clarett over to another studio rig. My personal experience has been great with both, but will admit that the RME does outperform the...

  • There’s certainly other solid libraries out there, but SD3 is just so good and so easy to get set up perfectly... Congrats on the purchase and enjoy

Yeah the graphics for the kits from EZd2 is generic, but general layout is maintained. Samples are still processed and “mix ready” though so any investments on that front aren’t wasted.

I still stack a couple of samples from EZd2 in my SD3 kits so I find that there’s...

EZdrummer 2 is excellent as already mentioned... but midi mapping can be an issue as well. Just depends on your module / setup. With the current specials online, you can nab it for around $70. We’ll worth it in my opinion.

  • Yeah, any setup is only as good as its weakest link... CPU recommendations from vendors are generally the lowest supported config and if running a VST, I personally wouldn’t use anything less than a 4-core proc.

You look good on RAM and as stated the interface should be running native...

Paltry 200MB limit on total kit size and horrific MIDI latency...

The first renders layering and expanding the kit practically a useless feature that they advertised heavily. The second makes using it to trigger a VST a non option. The ONLY saving grace the module has is that you can import...

ATV EXS 5 with a Mimic or pick up an Artist extended kit and nab a Mimic down the road. ATV is definitely a solid brand that has been establishing itself more and more and I don’t see them going anywhere but up... For your budget you can’t go wrong.

Of course, for $4k you could...

It’s an interesting kit from them and a solid value, but having owned a strike kit at one point I wouldn’t recommend anything from Alesis. I ended up hitting several limitations with the module that despite its noble intentions and design ended up being the main reason I abandoned the brand...

I personally don’t use it anymore, but agree that it’s a solid add to the base SD library and given the holiday pricing I wouldn’t hesitate to give it a shot.

Finally nabbed it over the weekend and agree that the room mixer is fantastic. The 80’s kit is also really nice and will likely find its way into my arsenal in some way or another... As for the hihats - wow. Just wow....

So I will say that I’m not a big fan of the room mixes in the library... If that’s the problem you’re having, maybe try out the various instruments with different mixers / room mics. That’s the way I’m using it and have found it to be quite effective...

    The...

Yeah I agree. Between Decades and D&D, it pretty much covers all of the genres and tones that most anyone could want to use. Although there’s still a few specific cymbals and snares from Progressive Foundry that I use and I really love the Yamaha kick and bell brass snare from Rock Foundry...

The DW kit from the Death library. Check out the raw sample on the Toontrack site for a quick idea on how it sounds. I’ve been using it for my toms and am very happy with the results......

Awesome Let me know what you think...

I’ve been busy stacking and playing around with the different kits and am currently loving the DW maple set. It’s got a really nice and warm tone out of the box that’s very natural and friendly with just about all of the various...

Dammit.... I was hoping I wouldn’t be pressed to nab this, but after hearing that track I have to admit that it sounds REALLY nice when played over the right kind of back track. I’m really curious to know how he mixed that down. Nice find....

If you pick up D&D, check out the 20" Zildjian K Custom ride... I've been using it this past week and I've really grown to love it. Just the right balance of resonance, shimmer, and tip definition on the bow and a bright pingy bell with just the right touch of overtone. Coupled with its 8-articulation...

  • Nice work man. I appreciate anyone who spends time educating the masses on how to get more realism out of eDrums. It helps to change the opinion that they’re simply toys for wanna-be real drummers...

  • The ATV hats and Roland VH-13’s are often regarded as the best 2 in the market today... Neither is bargain, and both use a different CC approach - optical on the ATV and physical on the Roland - but you can’t go wrong with either.

Of course you also need to keep in mind that...
