Hmmmm I swear when I push real hard I hear the extra to tight sound. I even checked the sound by setting cc to 127 to hear the extra tight articulation and it sounds the same as when I push extra hard on the pedal.

So sylv1co, can you explain how the resistors affect the playing behavior...

  • This looks super cool. Can't wait to try this with my td12. Just recently started editing sounds and all snares are so thin and harsh sounding. Hope with will add some depth and fullness. Any suggestions for good sounds to layer with snares?

I finished my trigger and mounted on my K custom session ride. The results are great. The response to the edge trigger is fantastic and totally adjustable for your style. I personally like washy rides that crash out easily so I made the edge rather sensitive. However with the design it only goes off...

Here's my latest fsr hi hat controller. I originally built an under the pedal controller. It worked fine but wasn't responsive enough for me. I had to open way before to get a good splash sound and the foot splash was impossible. This new design is totally stealth and I believe since it is directly...

I believe it is just a piezo under the bell. I sent them a message a while back and that is what they told me....

Cool. Are you getting reliable positional detection with that set up?

How did you attach your piezo's to your cones and to the plates that hold them. It looks like there is some white stuff in between the piezo and plates. I'm interested because in playing around with different piezo and cone mounting ideas....

There are some great directions for reseating and cleaning the ribbon connector. That's been shown to fix fading screens. I just got a td12 second hand. I got really lucky and found one they seems like it was barely used and has a perfect lcd.... for now....

Your information has been great Sascha! And thanks to everyone who has chimed in in this thread. This is such a great and supportive community.

I'm going to try a 1/16 epdm bottom layer followed by 3 1/16 washers and a 1/16 abs ring to mount the piezo to. I'll try a quarts come on top...

Thanks! Is you're ceramic part free to float via your glue bridge you described?

From the picture it looks like there is a cushion directly under the ceramic which would impede its ability to move. It also looks like the brass is not attached anywhere and free floating. That is exactly...

Thanks so much for the picture. That looks a lot like my set-up though. It appears you have an adhesive foam disc right under the ceramic part with the brass part floating free. Sascha (and I thought you were) is suggesting the opposite. Allow the ceramic to float and secure the brass edges via adhesive...

Thanks my drawing was more in reference to Sascha's post. What sort of platform do you secure the piezo to?

This is my biggest question about this design.

And thanks for the response redtide!

Here is the drawing I came up with for my piezo base. Is this something like you are describing? I would place the piezo on the top foam doughnut to allow the ceramic to flex freely....

Wow that is great information thank you so much! I made my original cushion based off of other builds I have seen. The cushion just covers the ceramic and allows the brass edges to be deformed by the edges of the cone. From what you're saying this is opposite of what it should be. You are saying to...

So I finally got the drum tec reel feel heads. I got one for my snare and one for my high tom. I love them so much! It has totally evened out trigger response across the head and greatly reduced hot spotting. It just seems so much more sensitive and life like than my prism heads. Plus they look and...

I considered that. My goal is to create an all in one dual zone trigger that I can slap on any acoustic cymbal and wrap it with a rubber profile for easy convertablity. I'm going to do this next with my A customs, A and K cymbals I have. Here is my finished working prototype on my converted ride that...

Wow that is amazing. How does the capacitive plate thing work. And can you give some details about how it is wired?
