replied to TD-17 as "entry level module"
That whole confusion is why companies usually upgrade the products from the Top down (TD30 -> TD 50, TD25 -> TDXX, then TD11 -> TD17) to avoid making another product obsolet.

Man, they really Need a new naming sheme where you can realize the tier and the generation...

That price is a real killer....

  • Not sure if you will be happy if you Dump the mimic and 2box for a xD3 Module.
Have you considered selling everything except the mimic and selling the xD3 Module alone?...

Did not work on my Setup (not able to measure latency).

In the process of (Hours and Hours) of experimenting I found out I have a very low tolerance for latency (and it is recognizable more than with oboard sounds, after all) and a much higher tolerance for average sounding drums (altough...

My current Audio Interface is the TD11. Which is not the best in the world, but even spending only 100 bucks is to much of it only lowers latency by 1 ms.
I can run it with a 2,2ms Buffer Right now. If an Audio interface only increases that, then I don`t see a Point. Am I missing something?...

  • All kidding aside, yesterday I had time and spent 2 Hours tweaking my VST Setup so I can Play 7000 Euro Drumsets by Sonor and DW on my 900 Euro E-Drumset.
Afterwards I felt a little guilty not using the time working on on my chops but on this stuff.

  • Did you know thos kits have nearly zero latency, Need no (electricity) power at all, often look really nice and Sound really well?

Still searching for the Volume knob though, and try to figure out how I can switch a Birch Kit to a Maple kit with one button. *g*...

  • I am Kind of in the same boat as you. I got a used TD-11 and I am happy with it. If the Budget allows as TD17KV or KVX: Go for it. It`s brand new, if you don`t like it you will get real good return in a year or two.

If you want to go to Midi/VST later you can buy a used TD-9 Set, for example....

  • Rtom Balck Hole is for kick drum, too.
@Agean: drum-tec offers a solution where they overhead-Mic the Cymbals and Mix them with the triggered Module sound for the Drums. Interessting, the cymbals und mics and mixer costs about the same as a Set of ATV cymbals. All in all drumtec jam Shells and...

After installing the right drivers it works like a charme.

Except one thing that I cannot understand: The Bass Drum sounds worse, less Punchy, when I use the Midi Triggers then when I try it in the programm. is that way for the SSD5 Free Bass Drum and even more so for the Bass Drums in...

  • Been down that road. A Laptop/PS and "Perfect Drums" makes for good sound. I still practice with the TD11 Sounds, altough I use Sound Editions (similar to VEX) that made the kits a lot better without me having to spend the time tweaking them.

Also: good headphones are key! I tried...

I guess VST is the way to go.
After christmas I gave it another try with SSD5 Free and I finally brought Latency down and managed to get the Audio back to the TD-11. Now I use Perfect Drums, which has really amazing Sounds for a good Price.

So 400 Euro for a PC with SSD, 8 GB RAM...

  • demonocus: nice kit!

The TD-9 Sounds seem to be pretty similar to the TD11, but with one more Trigger Input and MIDI Input. Sounds are the same issue. Not perfect, but not bad enough that you have to change. If you use a VST, the TD-9 is quite enough.

    Do you use Presets from

  • Nowhere to go: The Anti "Gear Aquisition Syndrom" Topic

Hi. just wanted to share some thoughts. Short: I started with a Cheap Millenium Set, went to a Yamaha DTXtreme2s, stopped drumming, restarted with another cheap Millenium Set, bought a TD11K and upgraded it.
Now I am at a Point where I got nowhere else to go for a reasonable Price, and wanted...

    Side Mounted External Triggers

According to a lot of Reviews, Side mounted external triggers are a cheap and easy alternative to the real stuff, but have quite some weaknesses.

I tried a 2Box Trigger on a 12" Snare with a Drum-Tec Real Feel Mesh Head: works amazing!
Now Yamaha is selling a hybrid set with...

    Cheapest Acoustic-like Edrum Module

Just for the fun of it: I am an E-Drummer who likes to have realistic acoustic sounds, and some drum sounds like they are used on Pop/rock Recordings (processed acoustic Sounds).

Best Module for this application, judging from Reviews and YouTube Videos where all the kits are played, is...
