  • Hey,

You are the samples guru, arenīt you? What exactly looks interesting?

For me the most interesting part ist, that this envelope clearly showed a sample. Machine code looks much more like noise :-)
It sounds like a relatively thin cymbal.

  • Hey,

yes, of course and as far as I followed the discussion no one ever said that the td-50 uses such a modelling approach, so there is no dispute here.

Of course one canīt now, but what about the evidence?

The files with „rom” in their...

    Hey Mr. Boo,

I apologize for being overly annoyed and also for being too aggressive and promise to switch to a more well behaved behaviour.

I would really appreciate if we could discuss that a little further because I expect some valuable insights from a discussion...

  • Hey,

so no need for discussions. Just summarising:

    • the internal samples are not in a fixed ROM since then you couldnīt add to them
    • the engine features can be tweaked

    Mr Boo

so then when simple eq includes things like impulse response or even resonance modelling what is the point in restating the simple eq thing over and over? What do folks want to say by that?

Yes, with 2 zones, that is not what people mean when they say positional sensing.

  • Hey,

please could you highlight the passage in the text you quoted where I said anything like that the algorithms were changed?

What is going on in this forum that folks so often claim that people said something they in fact didnīt say?

    Mr. Boo,

Iīm a MSci and generally do not believe in black magic. I also do not believe in your ear.
And yes I know one or the other thing about sound and sound modelling.

This eq myth gets more and more annoying with each repetition. Not a single one of...

    Hey,

    Yes indeed!

Superior Drummer (e.g.) covers all 127 velocity levels. If it is using only a few 4,5,6, or 9 or whatever actual recorded samples to do so, which Peter now repeatedly confirmed and which can clearly been seen in my analysis posted some time ago,...

    Hey Peter,

sorry, please could you elaborate for me: You say multiple hits at 6 to 7 velocity levels what exactly does that lead to?

    multiple (lets say 5) * 7 * 127 = 4445 recorded samples for snare center hit?

    Hey Peter,

    you said so?

and feature space analysis clearly supports my point, I think: https://www.vdrums.com/forum/general...24#post1153324

Furthermore I doubt that there is any human out there who can reproducible strike at 128 velocity...

    Hey,

while I definitely agree, please allow two remarks: 1. With the much improved positional sensing we are moving toward the kind of variation we see from an a-drum (stroke variation) and my analysis of the timbre change shows that there is considerable timbre variation....

    Hey Peter,

while not beeing a capable drummer, Iīm a capable scientist and have severe doubts regarding this statement:

I think in about 20 or so years Iīll have managed the skills to yield precise strokes and verify or falsify what you said, so stay tuned :-))...

    Hey,

with one noteworthy exception I think. If you process the velocities the situation can easily get worse. If you send your 128 velocities to a VST which uses a velocity curve you will easily end up with 50 or so velocity levels and some regions may have really sparse...

    Hey,

there is something to it, I think. Back when learning violin one thing to achieve was that notes that are equal sound the same (aka machine gun) on this fundament you can play tiny accents that otherwise would drown in the randomness of variation.

    Now learning...

    • Tweaking can do a lot that is proven by the 1.06 firmware
