    Mechanical "machine gunning"

I'm having a mechanical "machine gunning" problem with my left hand stick. I'm nearly certain I can feel the stick vibrating and it almost never happens with my right so I'm not inclined to think that it's the sensitivity or the gear in general and haven't messed with that cause it like the...

  • "The TD50 hi hat machine guns if you play 16th notes." Be very interesting to know how the TD-50 distinguishes between 8th notes and 16ths. !?

Other than moving the digital ride to the right I've been using the setup as shown. Got it wired and loving it. Again my thanks to all.

Here is the setup with attempts to address most of the problems addressed in this thread, or so I hope. Again any suggestions appreciated.

'lectric drumma:" Or you could also set your kit up in a symmetrical way." Thanks, but I tend to think of them as timpani and having enough trouble with the "German order." Hey, the left hand always plays the low notes

Thanks, tom positions have been corrected.

ignotus : "Also, I think you should angle the cymbals so you can hit the edge with the shaft of the sticks, while also being able to play the bow with the tip." Thanks, trying out different positions.

Placement of the HH and the 8” tom is what I've struggled with the most. I will continue looking at options and rack hardware that would help meet the recommendations given here.

I only jam with a friend who is old school avaunt guard and brings his iPad Pro and Seaboard Grand and makes...

    Kit Set Up

This is my first attempt at setting up a kit. I'm a complete drum novice and only know what I've read/seen on line. Next step is to hook it up and dress the wiring. Can any one point out any fatal errors, or serious issues may have missed, before I do that? (The TD 50 will be raised and aimed toward...

Taken this evening, the kit is in disassembly.to be rearranged into a standard kit. The next step will be snipping all the tie-wraps. Actually I'm also trying to get the Saffire Pro 40 to talk to a trial version of Ableton Live. (The on board VIA 1394 chipset had an incompatibility problem...

    Hi ...

I'm new to drumming. In the 60s I studied composition with William Hoskins and consider myself a failed composer. I was involved in electronic audio/music hardware starting with vacuum tubes and ending when digital moved into audio. After that I worked as a computer programmer. Just in the process of...

Yamaha's synth products are lagging also. Any one know if the 2011 Tôhoku earthquake and tsunami hurt their R&D?...

  • I'm just a noob to drumming but I'm pretty certain the output from the drum is a high impedance trigger signal, (and for some devices, low impedance switch signals) which must be connected to a device designed to read drum triggers, and “transform” those signals into midi data before you could connect...

Thanks to every one for the input. I pulled the trigger on the TD-50 upgrade pack.

Never mind I ordered the TD-50 upgrade pack with 18' cymbal and 14" snare and will see how that works out.

    14 inch vTom

I'm trying to complete my kit. The pads I have are two PD-128, one PD-108, and a PD-805X. Being a noob I am comfortable with the 12" snare. I want a 4th tom but graded tom sizes are important to me (not going to justify that). Also the Roland mesh heads with light sticks are perfect for my elderly...

Thanks, Tang. If the Nord came with trigger inputs and not pads it would be perfect for my needs. I may add one eventually.

"The electronic sounds and percussion in Roland modules are 1 shot samples". Thanks. I was under the false impression that they were synthesized (physically modeled)....

    Module for electronic percussion.

I have two PD-128, one PD-108, a PD-805X (arriving today) and plan adding another PD-128 soon. Also a couple of Yamaha cymbals hooked up to a Yamaha Multi-12. I plan to add more varied kinds of triggers later. I am mostly interested in electronic/percussion. I am looking at getting either the Pearl...
