savagealexis Sounds very similar. I feel I need to make up a bit for the missed 20 years, hence the GAS. But with every new piece that falls into place, I feel the kit is closer to how I imagined it. I'm now very close to that point. Just a few minor improvements remaining, none of which need to be...

OK, it turns out the cymbal works great. The issue really was just a bad china sample last night. The cymbal behaves quite well. It is sensitive enough without any adjustments on the module. I think I have CY-8 settings there, or something like that. Haven't really touched those for a while, which is...

The first (visual and tactile) impressions are positive. Seems quite sturdy and has a decent rubbery surface coating so it is not so loud. Definitely less loud than my previous China-wannabe Millenium MPS-200. But this also depends on where it gets hit. To me it seems quite fine. This was one of my...

For what you are looking for (sorry!) neither of these is close to an acoustic drum, once you've played them long enough. Well, once you've tried the VST sounds, you'll know what I mean. That said, I was quite happy to have this supernatural thing because it handles cymbal swells and drum rolls nicely...

Right, TD-15 should register as an (output) audio device, connected via USB. Using ASIO4ALL driver would additionally decrease latency, in my experience.

Added a real hi-hat stand with the Goedrum hi-hat controller and using a PCY-135 as the top. Pretty happy with that combination.
Also, rearranged the stands a bit to remove any cross-talk between the pads in two modules.
Still waiting for that China cymbal and considering a few more rep...

Got a hi-hat stand yesterday and started using the controller. There are certainly more open states then with the previous pedal. Will try also with VSTs later, to see if all the hi-hat transitions get triggered.
I really like when the hi-hat moves. It helps me with tracking time visually. ...

I have a KT-10 but somehow I don't find its rebound to match the real pedal with KD-9, for example. Even though I really like the concept. That's why I'm looking for a trigger that uses the real pedal and still does the job.
    I find I can't really practice most of JoJo's foot techniques on a KT-10...

started a topic Goedrum Hi-Hat Controller

    Goedrum Hi-Hat Controller

The controller just arrived. It was a fairly quick delivery from Taiwan.
As I did not yet get a real hi-hat stand, I compared the controller to FD-7 by pressing it with the second hand. Perhaps my FD-7 is old and used but I noticed a bit better sensitivity with the Goedrum controller. The sound...

That's probably because nobody who played both triggers bothered to write one. (hint, hint!)...

  • Guys, thanks for all the useful info here. I am thinking to go down the Krigg route in the near future so I'm mainly wondering about two things:

    - How realistic is the feel? This is probably the main aspect. Here I'm also comparing to KD-9 mostly.
    - What pad settings do you use on...

Hey! I've just had my first real and complete experience using VSTs over the weekend so I'm interested in following your adventures and chipping in along the way.
I have just ordered the MIDI/USB cable for my TD-3, while TD-11 already has a USB out which I was using as the source instrument (can't...

Man, thanks for all these ideas! I'm absolutely delighted to jump into this. I've just made the first step from the basic e-drum module towards VSTs this weekend so all these things are "on my to-do list".
I'm compiling some tips & links as I go: https://sites.google.com/site...

Wish I had known this before as it looks more and more likely to be the solution I'd be happy with. A couple of questions, though:

Is there somewhere a compilation of settings for different pads? I'll be happy to add some to my drum-related hobby site, based on own experiences. So I'm wondering...

  • Right! I have to say that, after my very first experience, I'm quite happy with the performance of TD-11. And this is just a tad over the basic entry-level module.
I guess the key is in one or in combination of these things:

    - ASIO4ALL driver
    - using TD-11 as the sound interface...

  • I read this as in one can only use them to produce music in a musical arrangement. Meaning, songs, performances, whether recorder or live. Everything else is prohibited, more specifically - any sub-sampling, MIDI generation, etc. No samples or loops in any shape or form to be distributed in any way....

  • Thanks! This is explicitly prohibited, I see.

Whether the VST software is commercial or free, makes no difference here. The same provisions can apply with free software, too. The question is about the use of generated content.
And this significantly affects my desire to acquire such...

You may also want to add the budget limits as that may be an important factor.
Because, pretty much any newer module would fit the current requirements of "I'm looking for a module with better sounds/kits than the TD-6V".
I mean, there is a significant difference in price between...

  • What are the legal issues with samples from VSTs?

As I've been playing with "the whole VST thing" over the weekend (btw, thanks Sennheiser for providing a free VST!!! Glad I purchased four pairs of your earphones.) and find it simply amazing (so much so that I'm now contemplating a different route to purchasing a new drum module), one question...
