That's an interesting topic, actually. While the size of the acoustic drums is closely related to the sound they produce, the size of electronic ones isn't. So, pad manufacturers are free to choose the most ergonomic design.
The question is, then, are they doing this? What are the reasons they...

Yes, it's definitely not pressed. It behaves the same when there's no cymbal on top of it. I also make sure that the cymbal is just above it by using a finger. There's enough space to put the fingers through, underneath the cymbal, and to establish a desired distance.

    That's an interesting...

I also use PCY-135 with goedrum and am happy. The range is not the same as with Roland's pedals. It's something like 90%. So, some adjustments are required when using VSTs and I think on the module I don't get the fully-open sound but that does not bother me too much as I almost never use that. In the...

Hi and welcome! Stay tuned, then. Or, even better, try to make some progress and share with others.
Thanks for the link. I've added it to the list of existing solutions on the Open Source Drum Module homepage. Will have to check it out in more detail to see what exactly the software does. The...

Of course. Which set are you using in EZ and what are you using it for?
I could not find a decent jazz set. Actually, in the end they were all ok and at that point I started liking the TD-11 sounds.
Besides, I'm using TD-4 as a second module. You can see my setup in the signature. Cheer...

Sure. I've tried EZ, superior, and bfd3. Haven't used any of them after that trial week.
While the sounds are nice, they are not that much better than TD-4 or 11 that I would bother to turn the PC on just for practice. Besides, when I do exercises, all I need is a distinct instrument sound so...

    Thanks!
That's a great idea. I wanted to have the semi-open sound, anyway. Not completely closed nor completely open. This way it would be possible to set it up at wish.
I'll have to look it up....

TD-4 just came in. Thanks Ericdrumz !
The sounds are very similar to TD-11, if not the same. Hence the cymbals fit nicely and the snare is just fantastic, compared to TD-3. Now the sounds are quite nice and the practice is more enjoyable and inspiring.
The drawback of not having a 10"...

Cool shirt and very nice playing!
It just feels wrong to see the matched grip in a jazz tune. ) Nice touch, though.

  • I'm wondering if anyone has tried bix (http://triggera.com/triggers/kick-beater-bix) with the regular bass drum, which is used just for the looks and the surface to hit.

Thanks, ignotus ! That's how Jojo explains it, as well. Guess I went astray after watching one of the Drumeo videos where the pedal is hit with the heel. I'll try to find the link.

I find KT-10 great for heal-toe foot rocking but I can't do that on my real bass-drum pedals. Unfortunately, they are too short and my heel is alwas on the static part of the pedal. If I push the foot forward then I end up jamming the chain mechanism. )

Ericdrumz , Oh, man, thanks! That's an immense help. That little adapter would solve all the cabling issues for me as I have some leftover patch cables that would fit perfectly. Besides, Thomann has plenty more short patch cables. I was not aware of this little thing and have found only long extension...

    Roland TD-4 harness cable lengths

Hi, all! I'm trying to find the exact cable lengths of the D-25 cable harness that comes with Roland TD-4 module. As I'm considering it for use as a second module, taking over from the TD-3 which kinda becomes a "travelling module" for percussion on rehearsals, the cables would need to cover...

I love the description on one of those videos: "I've been using a TD-12 kit since October 2009 and gave up on the DIY e-kit even before that. Best of luck to all of you going this route. It's filled with headaches."

  • Hey, I've seen this earlier but some people have been complaining about latency. It seems that this is what Alesis Trigger I/O once was, right?
Did you try it out already and how do you find it in practice?
I've seen some used items advertised locally but was reluctant to go for it due to...

  • I might be stating the obvious, but the DrumIt 3 is supposed to support a wider range of pads. Well, once it is out, that is.
