the red line.
Just use a "capture top velocity" wizard to dial it.
In addition, make 100% sure that your sliders under "Zone Velo Mod" tab are at zero (and you use the latest firmware)...

Your cymbal is probably piezo/piezo/switch type (as most DIY ride cymbals)
Full support for this type of cymbals will be available in next firmware update...

Do you know the minimum quantity of units that a "large scale manufacturer" would accept?
Hint - take a look at a number of smartphones sold by a single chinese manufacturer
https://www.androidheadlines.com/201...s-q1-2017.html
that is just for Q1/2017

CY-14R is a ride - thus it has two inputs - thus it matters how you connect it to a module.
If you'll use wrong connector on your ride - you'll get bell instead of edge AFAIR.

BTW, I believe that at the current state of things, the company that will bring an affordable but good drum pad/cymbal line - would get a lot of money immediately

Assuming that you are copying the firmware file to the root of your flash disk, the only thing I can suggest is to get a brand new flash drive.
It's probably a compatibility issue or your flash drive was reformatted previously. The fact that your pc or mac can "see" the drive does not...
