Ok, being an old unit changes many things you can do ; -)

I agree cleaning with vacuum and the connectors, as proposed by hank and intruder, is a good idea. However, not touching anythin will not be sufficient. Either you have it yourself with your hobby parts, or you visit an electronic...

    Hi hank,

I agree that's a good choice to zero in on the failures cause, unless Ordacleaphobia still has the chance to replace the sound module by a new one. If so opening might not be a good idea. Just a remark, no dispute.

And again, why should the snare input be "first...

Indeed, that is strange behaviour, especially when it returns to snare mode automatically. I'm not aware, that you can chose such a behaviour intentionally by settings.

It sounds more like a failure in electronics, most likely related to memory, which nowadays is almost a synonym for a...

Hm, still don't understand the history of this failure. If I get it right you think that the kids or so might have damaged the module physically. If so, what makes the snare so different from all the other pads connected? (see image)

For example, if somebody stepped on the snare connector...

    Hi,

just to get it right for you, it may be helpful to think of a two-step process of sound creation with the TD-20. The first step is triggering. I.e. you hit a pad, the cable transmits that signal to the sound module and internally the sound module knows about it: it triggers an event...

    Hi,

you can try to exchange the snare pad against an other mesh pad (and adjust the trigger bank to its type) - this way you can check whether or not the problem is related to the snare pad itself.

I remember I had a similar effect in the eraly days of using my TD-30. There...

  • Thank you guys for your comments and thoughts. I'd like to comment on a few.

Comedy: To enjoy comedians on Mr. T. you're better of with Stepen Colbert (smart + hillarious), or Trevor Noah (clever word-smith from South Africa), or Bill Maher (truth with a sarcastic touch) or John Oliver...

    Completely off-topic, please don't mind

    Hello all,

I live in Germany and followed last years election in the USA, first with curiosity and humor, next in disbelieve and horror.

I'm not wining about a lost election, which is beyond my horizon and out-of-scope anyway.

To make a long issue short, I invite...

Depends on the national jurisdiction. It can or cannot be safe. There is no rule, which holds world-wide.

Remember, such laws cover building, selling, importing, exporting, distribution and so on. Not-so-smarties try to split parts, where protection might not exist, and assemble later,...

    I agree.

The funny thing about 3D printing is, that is is a comparably old invention, made somewher in the 1980s or 1990s (you can check) if I remember correctly. Which means: While it was protected by a patent, it didn't turn into a hype. Now, due to expiration date, it is a documented...

    What would prevent it?

It could be some official, it could be some fan. There are already patents out there, which encourage a crowd of users to walk around, spot indicated products for example, take picture or video with their smart devices, together with GPS-location and so on, fueled...

    Interesting perception.

The reality is: Whoever files a patent usually does so in his or her home country. Usually within a year, and if the patent has been prepared for this purpose, he or she can extend it to any country he or she desires (and is capable to pay for).

    So,...

Perfect questions to a lawyer, where the answers will vary from country to country. Or just take the risk and wait for the charge.

Because something can be done, it doesn't always mean it should be.

Just as an illustration the national patent law of the country I live in allows...

Just wondering what might be the cost of a law suite filed against you ? You know, copyright, patents right and so on. Very thin ice in my view ...
