replied to TD-50 -- back to it with older pads
I just keep them and let my son use them. I have a ddrum4 kit. Td20 expanded and td30. Mainly because Iím left handed and my son is right handed....

  • You are talking two different bits of hardware here. One is the module and the other is a computer. Not sure why they would be the same. What audio interface are you using and is it turned up? Are you going into a mixer or just feeding the output of the pc into the module?...

Could be your cross talk settings. If too high you will struggle to trigger low velocity. Have you tried a factory reset?

replied to Kit to go with Mimic Pro?
A full ekit certainly puts out more info than you would from a keyboard playing part by part. The hi hat cc especially. I tend to get drum parts down early so I still have maximum cpu power available and if I want to change anything either edit it or disable effects etc to reduce CPU load and play into...

replied to Kit to go with Mimic Pro?
You mention this is primarily for recording. In this case I would be tempted to go the route of vst like SD3. To fully benefit this you will need positional sensing. I think a td50 would be overkill for this purpose. You could get a great 2nd hand td30 kit for the money. I take it your studio has a...

    replied to Kick Pedal question
The trouble with kick pedals the most expensive is not always the best and what is the best for one person is not for another. Be prepared to have a few different types of pedals until you get one that suits you. This may even change as your technique improves....

  • I use SD3 but tried the demo of ssd5. You can remap with it it just takes a bit of perseverance and once you work it out it is easy. The manual is very poor though for this part....

replied to May need your kindly suggesting.
For me an edrum module would probably be like a 2box but with more trigger inputs and large memory space. The big thing is the ability to use other manufacturers pads and the hi hats. Not forgetting midi in and out. I would also want a usb interface that can transmit and receive midi. Others may want...

I donít think they do sell them anymore. What is the problem and have you tried re-seating the ribbon cable as this has worked for many including myself on the td20?

  • I have the pros but now use the dt1770 which are a huge step up and the best I have heard for edrums and will go really loud without distortion or running out of bottom end. Of course they cost a lot more

replied to Which module is your main module?
Now I know why the mimic gets so much space on here. Half the people have one ;-) itís a good thing as it means the Roland monopoly may well have been broken and may open up for more manufacturers. Iíd still like to have a go on one but havenít found anywhere near me where I can try one. Gear4music...

You mention you want a kit for recording. Surely you would be better using the td30 to trigger a vst for recording. SD3 works great with the td30....

  • So your configuration seems right. It would be good if you could get a recording of what happens as Iím struggling to work it out. I wonder if this is more a computer issue....

replied to Td50 VS Td20 MIDI
The snare and ride may feel better and you can use midi over usb but otherwise I would say not. You can still get the 3 zone ps on SD3 with a td20...

  • If you turn local off in the settings it splits the trigger in midi from the internal sound module/generator. If you then plug midi out to midi in the module send midi out when you hit a pad and this is fed to the internal sound module via the midi in. So turning local off breaks the internal link and...

replied to Low volume in SD3 with my TD9
SD3 has plenty of velocity layers. If you are used to triggering a library that has a more compressed sound it will sound quieter. Hit it hard and it will knock your head off! Also check out the internal effects. They can crush the sound more if thatís what you want. I personally want it to sound as...

  • I have a really old i7 which I upgraded for about £60 getting a 960 cpu and overclocked to 4ghz (mine was a 920 overclocked to 3.2ghz) and another 12gig of memory making it 18. I only looked when I got SD3 as the kits were getting very large. Cheap upgrade from eBay and a couple of years more use. Latency...

  • I see what you mean. You are using the td11 as midi and audio interface. I still donít get what is happening when you say goes compressed and loses the highs. Iím not sure how this would happen.

yes the last part is correct....
