Why are you sure about this?...

I said from the get go it could be a defect. You guys seem to want to push Pearl so much that you ignored my requests to identify if there was a module issue.

After a reset, it was better. But still garbage to my ears. I've identified the issues as Mimic users want an untuned acoustic kit...

As always, thanks for the well thought out exchanges. It was in fact the module. I reset it and it was better, but still so much less than I was expecting. Pearl is at least a year away from getting this module correct, imo. You can load samples in the TD50, so why not just load a few snares and toms...

I think our opinion of big PA's is not the same Peter. We talking 5,000+ or what numbers? Do you have a quality FOH Engineer?

I like your processed kit to. I'd still do plenty to it, but it's a nice sounding kit. Processed is not a dirty word for me, it's a necessary one. I feel Roland...

The TD20 is antiquated. I brought the equally antiquated TD9 into in to point out how bad the Mimic is. It's suddenly very obvious to me why they do not have demos available in stores for the Mimic. And why there are hardly any video demos online. It's garbage. Peter is the only video demo I've heard...

Thanks Peter. Sounds like a lot of work to get there. Also, why would you assume a bigger PA would want a dry kick? Is it so the audio engineer can do what he likes? Because I've learned it's better to idiot proof it and send what you like and ask him to just mix volume. If you send the sound you want...

It's not power. And I agree it should at least compare to a TD30. Again though, it should sound good out of the box correct? I literally had to turn the high up to at least 3 o clock to avoid a terrible low mid and no high sound.

To be clear, I own a studio and lots of PA and produce high...

It was terrible in my phones. Both ears and my Studio headphones. I either have a bad module or you guys are on crack, lol. I'm not kidding, my TD9 is more impressive. This has been a terrible let down

I'll head back in tomorrow and apply the suggestions in this thread. But I think...

I don't think bringing antiquated tech like the TD20 helps this discussion.

I think the kicks and toms sound lousy in the mimic. I like the snare's and cymbals. But, the number of them do not matter since they all sound so similar in terms of kick, toms and snare, imo. And none are that...

No but I'll try that tomorrow. Curious as to why that would cause a difference in sound from the outputs?...

This speaks to my point. At least some of those are not on board sounds, correct? Do you mind explain a little of what you did to get that kick sound? I like it in general, but that's a stock Roland kick and it's very easy to add effects, etc. if you wanted to on a Roland. I'd have to work really hard...

To be clear, when you say "like an acoustic kit". Do you mean simply like an acoustic kit with volume control? Or like a mic'd up acoustic kit that you can add effects and make sound like it would through a PA at a concert or in studio? Because for the money, I want to be able to make one...

It sounds bad Peter. Like I said, I'm truly hoping I did something wrong. It sounds like a cheap and dry acoustic kit with the low/mids cranked up. That's out of the box before I did anything and I feel I should be able to plug and play with a 2K module. Tweaking is for personal taste, but out of the...

I did listen, most were underwhelming other than a few sales videos from Pearl. But, since it's impossible to find many good videos or a live demo in a store, I figured I'd just buy it and give it a shot. The beauty or being able to return stuff in the USA is I can mess with it and give it back if I'm,...

Copy, so it's designed for me to tweak to taste rather than approximate a good starting point?...

So is the general consensus that the Mimic Pro is really designed to use with your own samples or ones you buy and import? I was really shocked and depressed to see so few sounds or adjustments in my tweaking so far. It may just be that I'm so used to Roland that I can't find my way around this module...

Thanks. What do you usually run the individuals at? I left mine at the factory preset (around 60) and have the main maxed and it's really low level....

Hey guys, just started messing with mine today and silly question. Is there a master volume adjustment? The kit mix is good, but the overall output is really low compared to my TD30. I've looked as many places as I can stand and found nothing. Thanks! (edit, I mean other than the main in the mixer area....

Sorry to hear this. A back injury almost stopped me from playing too. I was lucky to have found a few Doc's who fixed me up. Hope you get back to playing and feeling better soon!
