  • Just received mine also from Musician's Friend. Same result - well packed, triple boxed, and factory sealed - no dents, no loose parts. Will be a bit of time yet before I can install, setup, and test. I'll keep you posted - so far very excited....

  • I called back a couple times (kept getting cut off). Finally got through to a different salesperson. All went through perfectly for total $1715.22.
Thanks Chance for the heads up. I guess persistence pays off.

  • Just called Musician's Friend - they would NOT match Cascio's offer - they said because Cascio's was not in stock. They would only recognize "in stock" items. Do you have a salespersons name you spoke to?

    Thanks,
    Steve K....

Now this is what a community is all about - sharing, learning, and growing. I'm not even a Mimic guy (yet) but this would be great - hope others are as pleased. Thanks Trip....

Got it. I'm seriously considering the Mimic Pro - a bit pricey for someone who only sits/plays in his basement but at this stage in the game, I can afford it. My only concern as I have stated elsewhere is it may be too complicated for this old brain.

    Thanks Intruder et al...

Please excuse my ignorance but I don't understand "kick direct out". I have a TD-15. Are talking about MIDI out, which I know less than nothing? Therefore, this may be well beyond my paygrade which is close to entry level.

I don't mean to become overly burdensome here, so if...

Good to hear Intruder. I'm not real pleased with mine but I think it's the amp - probably underpowered although I do get a good rumble. What I wanted was only (or primarily) the kick drum to "thump". I even tried running the output through a small Behringer mixer playing with the EQ to...

I'm not sure this is possible or even ethical but could you post/upload some of your favorite "tweaked" kits so others could load them into their Mimic and experience exactly what you created? I would hope more people "share" their personal kits within the edrum/Mimic community....

I was originally considering the Butt Kicker Mini-CT kit (BK-SK). I suspect this would work better but I went the cheap route. Can't answer about the 220v issue.

I use AD2 and VEX kits simultaneously (sounds weird but it works for me). What I did was raise the presence of the kick in AD (pitch and volume envelope). Now I'm no audio guru so for me it's basically trial-and-error. I've got the kick responding pretty well. I'd like less floor tom (which I believe...

Like I said, I'm not much of a techie so I wanted something "off the shelf". I guess my biggest issue was/is - I'm cheap (you get what you pay for). But again, for 60 bucks I'm really not complaining - just saying.

Thanks guys. I'm going to play with this a bit more -- I'll keep...

I guess that's what I was alluding to (6.5 is hardly stellar), but for $60 I really can't complain much - what was I expecting.

I've tried feeding from a small Behringer mixer and headphone amp; also directly from the TD-15 headphone out which is what I'm using now....

Hey thanks Ignotus. I tried that and it did help a bit but not overwhelmingly. I also run AD2 concurrently with my TD-15. So what I did was ramp up the kick drum considerably on AD2 so that it overrides much of the Roland kick. Again, this helps but not really what I expected. After more review,...

So I too jumped in and added an "El Cheapo" butt kicker to my Roc-n-Soc throne. I ordered both the AuraSound AST-2B-04 and the Dayton BST-1 transducers along with a Lepai LP-168HA amp from Parts Express. I wanted to see if there was/is a difference between the two.

    After testing...

I have a smaller TD-15 system than you but I too have an extra CY-5 cymbal. I use it as a percussion pad - being smaller works great for me. Having two triggers allows for a couple unique sounds.
