  • I use the SE215 and it isolates very well, to the point that I donít hear stick noise at all when I play alone. I didnít play with it in live situations and canít compare with other models or brands, but in my experience it isolates pretty well.

Yes yes, but I think Rolandís patents deals with wave lengths to determine the position of the hit along with the volume (velocity of the strike), but Korg uses other method based on the sound itself, that must be very diferent from Rolandís, otherwise they would not be allowed to sell the Wavedrum...

Actually the sensor on the top is one of them. There is one bellow the head at the center and one on top fot the rim. So, they might be using 2 for snare and one for toms and bass drum, but they might also be using the same technology for cymbals. They trigger by the sound and use DSP to shape the sound,...

Ohh yes, works good with anything you can hit on it... sticks, mallets, rods, hands, fingers, elbows.... he he. There is the mini version that has an external mic that you can put in any surface like a table or pandeiro.

It sounds like the old Remo practice pads, quite loud comparing with mesh.
The heads are regular coated mylar. It doesnít work well with mesh because it doesnít produce a good sound for the internal mics I guess... Works very well played by hand too.

I have one wavedrum, and that thing capture the sound with built in microphone and manipulates the sound electronically, and can mix with samples. So, the sound changes according to the thing you hit it, sticks, brushes or hands. It has pressure sensor too... if you sing near it, it will sound too....
