  • Funny you should mention that. In late 2016 early 2017 just 2 days past the return date. Upon hearing about all the MIMIC hype round these parts, I decided to request a return the DP and wait for the MIMIC and was denied my return request without losing 5 to 600 dollars. I am wagering it was due to...

  • The odds of something buggering up is prolly unlikely the TD 50 seems solid from my experience.

  • Not only that if one wants to bring up an issue they make you register to a forum called Roland Tribes not sure if the point is to perhaps have other members offer advice 1st. Still quite a painful process when you look at all other companies having a support email or phone number and alot of times...

  • My experience with Roland Customer service was pretty lame. When I bought my 30K one of the PD100x's sounded lower from the get go. Roland warehouse was in Richmond BC where I live at the time. I took the pad in they told me to tweak my settings in the module and did nothing about it. I just dialed...

  • Agreed hence why I was ok with whatever the store decided. Still glad I was able to go MIMIC.. As far as losing $1400 its not the worse thing there are items that cannot even be resold or gain any decent value in return.

Skakter that's pretty well what I have and well expanded not as many...

  • Dont know about that had nobody contact me for my DP and it was discounted $1400 from new. The store gave me that for my trade in I just had listed it in case it may help someone out. At the end of the day it worked out the same for me....

    LMAO!

On the flip side my fave A kits have been Pearl BLX 2X DW collectors and Ludwig Superclassics (Ironically the Luddys are my fave toms in the MIMIC)...

I think the DRX-1 and Alesis D4 may have been the ones I am referring to. The Alesis had sound expansion cards.

You do have to give Roland marketing it's props. According to the L&M manager Roland is the #1 drum seller in the world over quality A kits and all..Perhaps that is why DW is getting in the game..

Worst e kit you ever owned?

Saw this on my local CL. Brought back memories. I figured lets have a fun & humour topic. I am coming to my 56th Bday therefore have owned many e kits (akits too) over the years, including Simmons SDS 7, 9 200 the 3 piece add on the pad with the chip eprom blower, Tama techstars, pearl DRX-1, Alesis...

I prefer the smaller lighter MIMIC module and more compact e kit with 12" snare and Cy 15

Edit the more I play these the more I amazed at the sound quality..

For me the biggest benefit is due to the sound engine being different I can play without flaring up my Tinnitus as bad and when I plugged the 50's back in after a few days of trying out the MIMIC it was obvious to me that I preferred the MIMIC sounds which are still out of the box over my tweaked 50's...

  • One thing that makes it possible to play again without flaring up Tinnitus was making the change from TD50 to MIMIC pro different sounds/ frequencies I guess. Using OTO 25 db filter hearing protection. It still goes up and down regardless of playing or not but at least it's something..

I agree love playing the MIMIC. Dialing in was very simple. I am waiting for the update to play MP3's with internal player for now I think the sounds are so good I am fine just playing along with the metronome..

Edit What Peter refers to harsher tones further explains better sound tolerance...

I went from TD 50 DP to MIMIC. Overall with loss on trade and purchasing a PD125x I am out approx. 2K for the change but do prefer the sounds of the MIMIC that much more. This was involving a trade in with music store. I was unable to sell DP privately for approx. the same value that was given for my...

Cool now that I'm dialed in really digging it. I'm going to back up my settings and try to really fine tune it. The frequencies being less harsh makes it more tolerable toward my Tinnitus! Im able to play alot more.....
