    Here are the shells of my Pearl kit with the original wrap completely removed. It looks about 1 hour to get all the hardware off, and then an additional 1.5 hours to get the wrap off and then sand the shells (particularly in the areas where there was some residual adhesive).

  • Out of curiosity, has anyone tried using the Mimic Pro to trigger other sample libraries (i.e. through MIDI out and an interface, in the same way Roland modules trigger VSTs?). I know it kind of defeats the purpose with the inbuilt sounds etc. but some of us have purchased fairly extensive libraries...

  • It depends what you will be using them for. If you are just looking for something to get you practising, albeit quietly, then a TD-12 is good value for money. I'd go for that rather than the TD-25 which won't give you a huge improvement. You can instead, spend the difference on perhaps getting better...

  • Has anyone tried using Rubber Tips on their sticks? For example, like the Vic Firth rubber tips? Surely that'd be a better option at reducing stick noise, but preserving the look of your cymbals?...

  • It depends on what your application and intent is. Personally, I would take some time and save the money to go for a superior module which will give you more flexibility.


    You have mentioned not buying a pre-built kit but all your components are pre-built and from more expensive manufacturers....
