  • No experience here with the Yamaha's, but I 'd go for the TD-4 I think. Well, in that list that is... If it were me, I'd go even for an a bit higher listed kit, TD-8, TD-9....

    Pffrrt...

The part that scares me is that I think Alan is serious about closing this thread. Alan, can't you make the one who wins this a "winner of the first part"? Well, unless I win of course . So, did I win?...

None, she saw the bike and fell in love. If she wanted the bike, she had to take him too. And man, look at that bike .

Beast!! Only - and please don't be offended - drive safe man, since not a lot of protective gear on the Mrs. Maybe you are a good driver, but that doesn't make the potential guy hitting you a good driver, and, well, accidents happen. In Belgium we aren't even allowed to drive like that anymore. No motorcycle...

  • If you really can't get things straight, with the DW, only one thing to do. As far as the Falcon is concerned, I never played it, but I did read some very positive reviews on ot. And for 300 shipped, I think you have a pretty good deal. But as BDrums suggested, best to try them first - unless you have...

  • Don't know if you were trying the A's or the X's... The A's have a VDL (variable drive lever), which can change the feel a lot. But they indeed do feel differently. I once played mine on the a-kit, and it was so different than the other pedal I play on the A's. But on the e-kit, they just feel so natural....

  • Cykyter, congrats on the kit! For the e-kit, I use Vic Firth Dave Weckl sticks, very happy with them. I once played sticks with a nylon tip, what I feared happened, the tip got of. No need for anything else than a wooden tip en e-drums AFAIK. As far as a drum throne is concerned, unlike Peter and Alan,...

Well, at first I was thinking who to add to the list, but then I thought, nevermind. Hehe, list might be getting too long anyway .

Well... they are on your wish- /fantasies-list, not on your couch. So it's only fantasies.

    Ahem... LOSING!!!

    But...

ThangTheHump really nailed it with this one! Exactly my thought. One thing I might add... if it's placed within easy reach, you could use it e.g. in a jazz setting as a second ride, ánd have that same cymbal as a "punctuation surface" in the next kit.

I'd advise lessons too, even only a few if that's the only thing you can afford at the moment. Just ask away, and absorb as much as you can on these lessons. E.g. ask for rudimental technique, rudiments can be found online. Expand from there. E.g.: start with: rlrr lrll until you get it. Then place...

Well, I don't know if "a night with..." is a winning option, I was just asking. Ehm... does your wife know about Kate Beckinsale? Hehe, I can imagine your wife finding out, and the result being "a night with the couch". ...

No worries, the only reason we could give him to stop this thread is to go too much off topic. So on topic again... the last post... Is this the last post? Did I win? And not only did I win, but also, whát did I win? A trip to...? A night with...? Hmm... I guess if someone answers these questions -...

  • Never mind the set-up. Rather focus on how many toms, cymbals etc. you want. Chances are that if drummers come over, they ask if they are allowed to set the kit up to how they are used to play. 2 toms up, 1 down is a whole other kit to play than 1 tom up, 2 toms down.

Is that a DB-90 Dr. Beat metronome? I was about to ask why use a metronome when you are using a TD-30 where a metronome is built in... I noticed the DB-90 has a rhythm coach, may that be the reason you use it? Satisfied with it? Sorry for the short thread-jack...

  • As for pads, you also may want to consider 2nd hand stuff. As for what brand, This is a vdrums-forum, and I see a bit of pushing forward the Roland pads. I used to have a full Roland TD-10 kit (back in the days) and played a TD-20 kit in a store. I really prefer (but that's just my humble opinion of...
