  • Hi

Hi there, I've been lurking around here ever since I developed an interest in making my own electronic drums. I've played the drums for a few years now, and I just recently bought a Pearl ELX kit to replace my first beginner kit.
I wanted to practice during the evening so I thought I'd make some E-drums. Here they are so far...

Yeah, those are tables and boxes they're sitting on, and yeah they're only temporary! I'm using some of the hardware from my old kit (snare stand, hi-hat stand and cymbal stands) which will all be replaced. I'm building a rack from box section aluminium and I've very nearly finished it, so soon it should start to resemble an actual kit!

At the minute I'm using a Yamaha DTXpress III module but hope to replace it with a Roland TD-6 or possibly a TD-9.

I just wanted to say- Thanks to everybody on this forum, without the wealth of information on here I don't think I ever would've attempted this project!

Welcome! I love the snare stand, whatever it takes!!! I forgot my throne on a gig about twenty-two years ago back in the glam days. The only thing I could find was an empty wooden cable spool that was in a dumpster, lol. It was rickety as heck, gave me crazy splinters through my spandex and I almost fell off it a few times but it was better than canceling the gig. Good times!

Haha thanks guys! I have bought tom arms, laser cut and bent rack mounting brackets, almost finished my own version of Pearl's ISS mounts, and finally finished the rack! All I need to do is buy a snare stand, I've ordered a Tama RoadPro hat stand that was broken and I'll fix that up, and finally I might have a working kit! The drum wrap should arrive today so this evening I will strip the shells and wrap them, then get everything back together. I'll post some pictures this evening!
