  • TD-9SX on its way!

Hi everyone. I just ordered a TD-9SX & I'm psyched! I played drums (not to well) years ago and had a basic edrum kit about 20 years ago or so but have not played since. I got into Rockband last year and that spiked my passion for drumming so after getting bored w/ the simplicity of the game & pads I decided to take the plunge and buy something that would allow me to play around in my basement & jam along to some tunes. Funny thing... I was originally looking at cheap kits ($500 or so) and as I researched this site and others I kept moving upstream. I started looking at ION kits and moved towards Roland ones like the HD-1, TD-3, TD-6 but I finally decided on the TD-9SX.

I can't wait to get my hands on this thing and make some noise. One thing I'm looking for is some suggestion on drumming lessons DVD's, etc...

Thanks & glad to be here...

    net,

welcome to the group. The TD-9 is a very good kit, you saved yourself an upgrade getting all mesh. You've saved yourself some money (in the long run) by not getting a cheap or a basic kit. I started with the TD-3 and gradually replaced all of it.

Youtube has some drum lessons/drum covers

there are some free on-line lessons, there are even some podcasts on iTunes.

our local library has a couple of very basic vhs tapes with sandy genaro and a dvd called "Drum Lesson In a box", that wasn't quite as basic.

I've got a couple of those Hal Leonard book/cds with and without the drums

You'll get other answers about dvds/lessons. This is a very diverse, international even group. You'll get lots of answers and opinions here. It's a great group of folks !

    again, welcome !

TD-12/Gibraltar rack/Pintech Concertcast drums 12" snare, 1 12" tom, 2 10" toms, 8" mesh kick, Visulite cymbals, 14" dual zone crash, 13" hi-hat, 18" 3 zone ride and 2 Dingbats, Roland PM-10, iPod, Zildjian anti-vibe sticks, Roc-N-Soc throne with backrest, Yamaha snare stand, Tama Iron Cobra pedal and HH75W hi-hat stand, Sennheiser HDR 110 wireless headphones. wallet

Yeah I was thinking I better hand over the wallet to the wife so I stop while I'm ahead. I don't even have the kit & I already a list of stuff I want to buy.

          td-9sx

That's why I bit the bullet & spent more than I originally set out to. After reading/learning I figured that it would be better to spend a bit more now to get a decent set otherwise knowing myself I would have wanted to add-on soon after getting the basic kits I was looking at.

I'll check out some of the ideas for lessons/cd... I had found some on youtube but never thought if iTunes.

          Thanks. - Jose

Welcome from a fellow td9er! It is a great kit...but the impulse to buy more cant be fought...

if you do a search for 'books', 'dvds' or 'online lessons' using the search engine, you will find lots of suggestions....

Welcome and good work on doing some research before parting with your money

I used to play guitar, also got interested in musical instruments again via Rock Band (funny how many people do, eh?). Thanks to the good people here I switched from buying a TD-3 to a TD-9KX; it arrives Wednesday and I'm sooo excited about it, already have plans to build a riser/platform for sound absorption

The set just arrived! BTW - I got mine from BPMusic. They had the best price by far & shipping was extremely quick! Anyways...Am I glad I spent the extra $ to go this route. This thing is so well built. It's solid! To think I was orignally going w/ one of the cheap ION kits (Drum Rocker so I could use it w/ Rockband too) and then moved to the HD-1, TD3, TD6 and finally decided on the TD9SX. Man those mesh heads are amazing. I had edrums about 20 years ago. Man have they improved.

Anyways setup up was a snap and this thing plays so nicely. Still have to tweak the position of the rack & pads but I love this thing. I ordered the Roc-N-Soc seat w/ backrest so that's on it's way.

I'm really glad I ran into this site before making my purchase. I know I wouldn't have been happy with any of the other kits I was considering. Well, have to go make some noise...
