  • Hi Guys! Yeah Yeah, It's Been A While

    Hey people!
Hope ALL is well with everyone?
It's been way too long, but thought I should drop by and say hi.
To say it's been a busy 18 months would be an understatement
Two albums, 1 film score, 1 gaming score for playstation and a partridge in a pear tree ALL recorded on my eeeees and Aaaaas.

The one I think would interest the most would be a band called "DAVE", which is due out in the new year and was recorded with my Theory kit/TD20/0.0 modual and smarts. I went for a 70s gretch sounding kit, that seemed to go down well.

Check it out. They have just put a medley of tracks on the site

You don't think we would be interested in hearing about your film score and playstation tracks? Tell us stories Uncle wangchung.

Good to see you back Darren! I can't see the link for "DAVE" here at work (I'll check it when I get home), but when I consider a) DAVE and b) the need for a 70's sounding kit, I can only assume that you are hanging around with David Lee Roth. This may not be your best career move. Next thing you know, you'll be getting into heated arguments with Sammy Hagar, wanting to become an EMT, and babbling nonsensically for hours upon hours...

            Hi wangchung,

Thanks for that - an interesting medley - esp. the version of the Bacharach song (I didn't remember f*** being in the original???)

The singer's tone in the first song reminded me a bit of Gentle Giant's singer (that is a compliment btw).

              Cheers man

I really like the Bacharach track as well, but there's a lot more on that record that is really quite acomplished. Very moody, structured and melodic, plus my playing throughout is amazing

I didn't want to seem like I was sucking up, otherwise I would have said the same about your playing - excellent - I used to have a 70's Gretsch a-kit and you came very close to the sound so well done.
For a complete contrast (not moody, but nearly melodic and structured...) have a listen to my banana splits cover in another thread - I was really pleased with what I could get out of the SPD-20 as far as mallet sounds went.

Like the style mate. Something a bit different and as you say `catchy`.

                  Well produced. Good Luck.

Many thanks guys for your coments

It's always cool to get feedback when you finish a project and always puts a smile on my face when I tell other drummers I meet, that they are eeee's on the record
You just see the blood rush from their faces, then they call me a liar

                      Ah well! Their loss
