Welkom! De Nederlanders zijn hier duidelijk in de minderheid, dus hoe meer Nederlanders, des te beter. (Welcome! The Dutch are a minority here, so the more Dutch, the better).
Don't be afraid to show pictures or post music, we're all a big fan of those.

quite funny that somebody from the UK says that.
I worked In Utrecht for 5 years and at one point even the Brits started to complain about the food in our canteen.

Oh boy, the Dutch food reputation really is bad. It is called 'rijsttafel' (rice table) and the bad thing is that it's Chinese. So now we Dutch are known for our traditional Chinese food? Well, apart from the old fashioned potatoes, vegetables and a piece of meat with gravy I wouldn't know any famous Dutch dishes either.
@Roger Wilco: what did they serve you in the canteen: things like gehaktballen, kroketten, erwtensoep, stamppot?

Okay, i doubblledd some consonnantts...a habit I got in Wales.....
I think it is actually Indonesian...given the strong cultural ties (ie you occupied and exploited the poor Indonesians all those years) between the countries....and you forgot cheese from the famous dutch foods, Edam and Leerdammer, not to mention the wooden clogs...

We did? Really? Don't remember that. I was too busy play drums.
The common name here is 'Chinese food', but I guess you're right, probably no Chinese had anything to do with it. You can hardly call a piece of cheese a meal. Wooden clogs? Well, that's probably the best descripton of the taste of most Dutch food .

Well, if the cheese had a bit of bread, some mustard, an apple, and a wooden clog, it would be an okay meal for me... Gouda preferably that I left out for some reason from my list of FAMOUS DUTCH CHEESES...
I must have a word with your history teacher though, tsk tsk...

pretty much.
in between some ribs which usually was like half a pig.
Funny thing is the chef was French but was forced to cater to the Dutch taste. And stamp pot isn't that bad if done ok. I would think of it as more of a Flemish than a Dutch dish.
Btw.:
La fin du siècle next to the Greenwich in Brussels does a nice one, but everything else they serve is even better.
two more things about Dutch food:
in Amsterdam I went to an Italian and it was the only time so far I got pasta served with chips. (can’t remember the name of the place, close to the flower market/ Leidseplein, street full of gay bars, nice steak restaurant and an Italian on the other side. “saturno” or something like this)
the other thing: I had my first ever chicken tikka masala pizza in Amsterdam (Bangladeshi guy who was born in A'dam and never left the Bijlmer, this is where I lived)
Cheap Dutch food is ****. If you are willing to pay, Dutch food is extremely good (supper club in A’dam for example, but expensive)
Best thing is the Rokerij close to Leidseplein. After a spliff everything tastes fabulous.
Even food of the wall like FEBO
My flight is on Saturday, can't wait to have some beef (living in India makes small things look great)
