    hi

i was wondering if there is a way i could get the closed hihat sound on a td-6kw kit without having to press the FD-7 pedal so i could have me left foot all the time on the double bass kick.

an easy way of course would be not to press it at all
    Ex E-kits:
''Lernean Hydra'' ( a bounche of roland pads with a td-6 module)
''Lucy'' (Diamond electronic drums with a td-12 module)
    current E-kit
    ''Cherry Gretschy Lady'' (Gretsch Catalina Ash 6 piece A to E kit-Roland td20 module-A to E cymbals)

    A-kit
    " Mrs.Catalina'' (Gretsch Catalina maple 6 piece kit-Paiste signature+Masterwork custom made cymbals)

You could assign a fixed hihat sound. Check in your manual for the numbers. You could also make/buy an edrum drop clutch. I'm sure someone'll be along with a link for that shortly.........

A couple of years back I bought a little foot switch from a guy called Roadieken in the USA, on ebay but it appears he is no longer selling there.

It is just a small plastic box which is wired between the FD8 and the module. It has a dial on it so you can adjust the hihat sound and a switch you hit with your foot to turn it on and off. ie as you come off the hihat, you hit the switch and the hihat sound changes to what ever setting youve given it.

Im sure the guy use to hang out here but under a different name.

It may be that someone here can direct you to him, or may know of a similar device that is sold by others.

Its a useful bit of kit and it allows you to keep both hihat options while playing.

Prior to getting this, to keep both options, I had the hihat cymbal edge set on closed, but it wasnt great.
