  • The day has ARRIVED!!!

Ok - I know I've posted here for a couple weeks plus but thought I would make an 'official' posting as a soon to be vdrum owner. I've been practicing with the Roland RMP-5 while I waited on some funds to come together in purchase of my kit. Well the day has arrived!

I just placed my order for the TD-9SX along with a Roc N Soc Nitro throne with backrest - combined total for just under $2300. I'm very excited to finally get to play on a full kit and should have it before the upcoming holiday weekend. I've got a bid in on a Trick Pro-1V single drum pedal and will be finalizing that tidbit later this evening or tomorrow.

Groove Essentials here I come! I'm just so excited to finally have the kit coming and owe a big THANK YOU to everyone on this site who helped me through the purchase decision with your insights and support. This is a great forum and I'm hoping very soon to be a contributing member of the group.

I know this post is pointless without pics, so I'll add them once I receive the kit and get it set up.

              Guess what showed up today?

The backrest for the throne and the Trick Big Foot don't show up until tomorrow. I've already got Friday and Tuesday off to allow for 5 work free, drum filled days of bliss. More pics to follow as the rest arrives and setup begins.

Can't wait to see more pics. I don't think I could tear myself away from the kit long enough to snap any.

I looked at the clock last night and it was 1:30 AM - seemed like I'd been putting things together and tinkering for a couple of hours and I started at 7PM!

Well, I got another couple of items today which complete out the kit for now. The Trick pedal arrived and the back for the Nitro. I'll post pics later this evening and I'd like everyone's input on my pad placement as I'm a beginner. Not sure it's where it needs to be and your input is appreciated. Pics to follow this evening!

It will seem a little odd/alien regardless of the positioning when you start, however the first thing is that your kit should mould to you and not the other way around!

Get in the habit from the start of ensuring your playing position means you have the correct posture with a straight back with your legs at an angle that comes out parallel to the ground (rather than having the seat to high and cutting the blood supply off!).

All the pads and cymbals should be in comfortable position without you need to stretch.

My guess is, he's not gonna poke his head out for a few days... I know I didn't!

I'm back - but only due to me needing a break for a few minutes! Been fun getting everything together and man do I have a mess of boxes and packing materials to move out of the room. Anyway, everything went together and is working - that's about all I know at this point. I need to now start fine tuning the positioning on things and just get some time behind it and start practicing. I really like the Trick pedal - didn't get a chance to test it first but man am I glad I spent the extra cash. Smooth as silk and infinitely adjustable. If I can't learn with this pedal I just need to give up! Anyway below are the pics of the pedal and kit.

Forgive the mess in the pics - the theater room looks like a bomb went off in it. I still need to clean up the cabling but was going to wait on that until I know everything is positioned the way it needs to be. I'd appreciate any feedback in how things are setup and advice for someone just getting started. Thanks everyone!
