Hi everyone, long story short, Ive wanted to pick up drums since I was about 12 years old, Im 22 now and I just bought an electric kit for my apartment. I bought an alesis dm5 kit, the price was awesome.400$ for a complete brand new kit, has 3 cymbals, 3 toms,1 snare, 1 hi hat, and bass drum with pedal. All I can say that I dont like about this kit is the crappy hi hat pedal, but other than that I love this set, great for a beginner like me. Anywayz, Ive been trying to learn in the comfort of my own living room using an site online, Im not sure yet of the rules, I was too lazy to read them, so Ill just play it safe and wont add the link. Either way, I think its time for a drum teacher, I am stuck on sixteenth note techniques. What do you guys think is the best qualitys I can look for in a drum teacher? I want to learn everything I can without rushing anything, and be able to read the notes. I think its a smart idea..also can someone help me with finding my posts and replies? how do I do that on here?

I just click on the 'New Posts' link on the blue nav bar at the top, each time I visit. If you visit often that is the best way I've found to keep up to speed. The icons to the left of the topic title in the listing that comes up, will indicate if you have participated in that particular thread, by displaying a small curved arrow.

Welcome aboard! Its always great to see beginners on the site. Especially since I am one as well! Enjoy your new set and don't be afraid to ask questions as you go along. Don't worry if you think they are silly or stupid questions. I 've probably already asked most of them.

Here is I am multi pass: painter sculptor designer percussionist bass player concepteur 3d and father!!
And the drum in the evening it was impossible mission with my son who sleeps below.
It is thanks to sites as yoU, that I have confirm but doubts on the compatibility of connections.
If I must do again one I would not hesitate, it is very interesting, and everything is possible.
I still did not buy module.
I liked to test pads one after another. I just have try Roland modules. And result won me.
Here is perhaps for pleasure of it between help on the site.

drum teacher

drum teachers are good to hire at the beginning to cover basics but costs a lot of money long term, for what a lesson costs you could buy a whole pile of books and cd's to use at your leisure, i've managed well so far just using dvd's and books, and some of the dvd's have been hilarious!

This is exactly how I am going to approach it. I am using a teacher to really ensure I get the basics down and don't develop any bad habits. Once I feel comfortable enough, I will begin using books and DVD's. A great thing about getting with a teacher is that you can always get assistance down the road if you get confused or need some help. IMO if you had a good teacher, it wouldn't hurt go back for a few lessons for further clarification or instruction should you need it. Sometimes that interaction or other set of ears and eyes are invaluable.
