  • Good day, eh.

How's it goin' eh? I'm from Canada.
But I don't really talk like that.

I do enjoy hockey, and beer. Donuts and curling... not so much.
Don't even get me started on Nickelback.

I started drumming when I was four years old. But now I'm completely exhausted - that's way too long. I recently decided that if I'm going to keep playing non-stop like that, I may as well get something that's quieter and less annoying to the migraine support group that meets in the library below me on Wednesdays. They're so touchy

So, I don't own any of those electric plug-in "drums" that come with a working volume knob... yet. But I plan to, and soon. Although I did notice I can't reply to posts in the For Sale area. Maybe I'll just forget the whole thing.

I play Canwood acoustic drums. That's right: C-A-N-W-O-O-D-S. Like I said, I'm from Canada.

welcome Iktree, how bout converting your "canwood" acoustic kit to an e-kit? there are tons of infos here on how to them at DIY section. Take a look around!

      Thanks, eh.

Yeah I might convert the Canwoods but it would be a no-drill situation. I also have a Yamaha kit, but chances are I'll pick up a third kit of some kind and do a conversion on that

I would never drill my acoustic drum for any reason...! There are several choices for installing internal or external triggers on your acoustic with absolutely no damage done to your kit. I currently have Intrigg from Triggera installed on my Tama Imperialstar acoustic set, literally 5 minute install with no damage to your shells, you should check it out!

I should mention also - the reason I say "no-drill situation" in reference to the Canwoods is that they have no vent holes to route cabling through. They're a no-vent closed shell.

Vent holes were not necessary for my set-up, I got rid of bottom head away for my toms & snares so you can just easily connect your cable into the trigger input through bottom of the shell... they become unnecessary as acoustic sound will be completely dead anyways. Also many acoustic bass drum already have a 4-6 inch hole on the front, if not it cost you about 10$ to do it and it's pretty easy.

Well I'd keep the bottom heads on but you're right, it's easy enough to cut a discreet hole in them for cable routing. Doh!

Welcome, I had a blast on my DYI and much prefer VDrums these days. You could also try the Aquarian onheads with your current kit. They just sit on top of your current drum like a practice pad.

Thanks BWaj! Yeah the onHeads do seem like great technology, I'll probably see if a local store has any I can demo. The only thing that doesn't excite me is the thickness of the whole thing... above the regular head surface. I'm probably looking at more of a 'stealth' build (if I can borrow that word)
