I immediately replaced the bottom felts with much smaller ones and keep the wingnuts real loose. I have no idea why Yamaha includes such ridiculously oversized felts. Well, it makes sense on top to cover up the plastic around the the bell, but the stock bottom felts just impede movement so much. I would almost be concerned about cracking the mounting plastic from being under so much stress with that vice-like grip. I don't even bother with top felts/wingnuts on my acoustic set so I really prefer all the swing I can get! -
Cool.
How do you like the swing of your Yamaha cymbals?
I've made some adjustments to mine and I love how they swing now.
I replaced the huge felts that came with the cymbals with small hard ones for hi hats, top and bottom. Then, don't tighten the nuts too much, keep them loose. They'll have a really nice swing.Leave a comment:

I realized it's been more than a year since I recorded anything, so I sat down and did a one-off of This Is The Last Time by The National. The drums aren't particularly complex, but they sure are enjoyable to groove to! There's just something hypnotic about Bryan's playing.👍 1Leave a comment:

Thoroughly enjoyed that, very tasteful. Benny Grebb seems to have rubbed off on you both in looks and playing!Leave a comment:

That's great...but are you going to provide the link so we can see it?Leave a comment:

Hello everyone,
I put together an A2E kit a few months ago, and I finally got around to recording a video with it tonight. I have been very surprised with the quality of sounds on the DTX502 module. In this video I was able to reproduce Bryan Devendorf's drum sound with remarkable faithfulness.Don't Swallow the Cap by The NationalTags: None👍 1
