  • Here I go again

Ok, last saturday I had my first gig. It was at home for my birthday party so it was basically for family and friends. But it really felt good to play with a band with live rich sound and knowing that one has the responsability to drive the band. It was a great experience that I would love to repeat. Many of our friends said they wanted us to play in their birthday parties, so if we are lucky we will do it again. . Here is the link to the opening song. it was recorded with a sony handycam so I hope the sound is appropriate this time.

Enjoy the videos and music you love, upload original content, and share it all with friends, family, and the world on YouTube.

I would really appreciate your comments

    Cheers

The little girl running around was precious!

It sounded good. I wish the video were better, but it looked like you guys knew what you were doing.

Thanks Michael, the little girl is my daughter Samantha (3-years-old).

Was the sound ok?. It was a very enjoyable night. Everyone was standing in front of us, singing along and cheering us up. That's one of the perks of playing for family and friends . but the vibe was energetic I could really feel it. Maybe it was the adrenaline. I was nervous during the whole gig, However I managed to do my best and screw up the least possible

Mate that was really very good, a shame about the utube sound and not getting the full dynamics of the sound, very balanced and most importantly it was entertaining..I'd pay to see that , the party's are great to do especially with family and friends to build up the confidence eh.
        Nothing of importance here

By the way, what Vex kit are you using there (if you remember)?

I did a house party like that a while back (me on guitar or sometimes bass), with the drummer on edrums -- works pretty well.

            Your drums sounded good.

Looks like everyone was having a good time. Hopefully you can get to do it again.

Synkopat the party gig was great !!.I think the band did very well.My first gig with edrums was in a party like yours (60-70 people) cheering us ,it was fun.And yes i agree about that vibe feeling. It;s so different when u hear the sound coming from apmplifiers and looking at those faces waiting to listen to u.U feel nervous for the first 5-6 minutes but after it's so exciting !

I use the Lars Ulrich kit. I prefer the Yamaha Custom but through my amp it sounds too metalic, very different from what I hear in the headphones. But my kit sound was tweaked by the sound engineer in the master console. So I think the sound is not quite the same as the VEX intends to. The snare was brighter as well as the cymbals.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I started the band 3 months ago and I have been playing drums for only 1 year, mostly at home and taking classes from a particular instructor. I met this guys as feverish as me when it comes to music and they as me wanted to find an outlet to expresss their musical curiosities. We could only rehearse every fortnight so we only rehearsed 9 times for this gig. We were amazed how easy we could assemble each other despite of our different backgrounds, very different levels of musicianship (I've almost got none ) and expertise with our instruments. Luckily we all like rock so we could find a common ground. Our three songs were pretty tight, the last three were pretty much a mess (I missed my entry, inverted the beat in some parts, etc) since we never realy rehearsed them but as people knew the last songs and the songs were very popular they really did not pay much attention to our mistakes and the fun went on.

The best of all is that my bandmates changed the lyrics of one of the songs to tease me. They handed the new lyrics to everyone in the party without I knowing that. It was a cool suprise.. Nopw I know why I drifted away in the tempo

It sounded great to me, keep up the good work. I'm always amazed at the sound that comes from even small ekits. Parties are a great place to get started.

So am I. I have a TD-6, and during the sound test I was blown when listening to my kit through a decent PA for the first time ever. The band noticed the big difference also. Many people in the party got closer to take a good look to the kit they could not belive it was all electronic.

The other good thing is the sensitivity of the pads can be of a great advantage, specially for begginers like me. Toward the end of the song I posted the pedal slipped and closed onto the pad, so it was very unstable and I had to start kicking very carefully to avoid losing the pad in the middle of the song, but the audiencea and the bandmates barely notice that my bass drum was awkward. Every one felt the same punch despite of my very mild kicks.

Thanks, man. It was a blown to play with others, specially for me not being a educated musician and for whom music was always complex thing to perform. Now I understand what you guys were talking about!. Nothing compares to play with others. The responsability, the demand to resolve issues on the fly. It was all cool. I wish I could have dedicated my life to this
