  • [VIDEO] Rockin' out to some Boston...

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QFz5KJ_YpTQ

Did a quickie cover vid this afternoon, mainly for my sister who's up at grad school in the Boston area.

Due to trigger problems with my snare, I've had the Gain setting on the Alesis Trigger IO set at 0 (lowest value) for my snare. That was the only way I could get any dynamic range out of it. But set at 0 and trying to play decent back beats was causing it to totally miss triggering 1/3 of the time. So I bumped it up from 0 to 1 and then it was back to its old self - triggering the loudest smack hit almost every time.

I gotta just break down & buy a Roland or Hart snare pad, I think. I've had it with this.

Also, the original drummer does this quick open/close hi-hat thing on a part of the verse sections....and I did all I could to mimick that with my current hi-hat DIY controller pedal. But it wasn't that great.

Anyway, enough babbling...check out the vid.

    And rock out

Very tight. Sorry to hear about the snare problems. Maybe a simple resistor across the output would go along way. Are you handy with a soldering iron?

Yeah, my dad mentioned that actually. I'm not handy, no, but he may come over & try that out and see if it makes a difference & allows me to actually use the gain/velocity curve settings on my Trigger IO as they're intended instead of dumbing everything down just to have it somewhat playable.
