  • Video: My Roland TD-12

Hi, I am fairly new around here and I never posted any pics of my kit. So, instead, I made a video for you guys to check out.

    http://youtube.com/watch?v=I3bY1NmaWWg

I'd appreciate feedback on the kit, which I modeled as my first attempt. If anyone is interested in obtaining the kit, I will post it in the Custom Kits section, once I get it transferred from the module to disk.

The bass drum is a little too loud causing distortion, but I am new at video shoots and this too, so I will get it right next time.

Ask not whether something is useful -- ask what it is useful for.

Roland TD-12, Iron Cobra hihat stand and bass-drum pedal from TAMA. My accoustic kit is a Yamaha Power-V Birch with Paiste Alpha-series splashes, crashes, and hihat. My ride is a Zildjan Ping Ride, 20" I think.

A nice first effort. Thanks for sharing, and thanks for NOT sliding into view in your underwear.

Yeah Michael, I really like that song, so I thought other people might as well -- The custom kit actually uses a hi tom on all tom pads and then I have played with head tuning, muffling, and the head/rim instuments have been edited separately.

I have played drums since 1980 but have had periods of several years where I didn't play at all. I chose to focus more on computers and software development for quite a while, but once I got the hang of that, I got back into drumming. When it comes to VDrums, I am a total newbie... I started a week ago or so.

The ride pad has a 20" Med RdEg (instrument #360) on the head and a 19" NY RdBl (instrument #366) on the rim. The Ride Edge has the 20" Med RdBl (instrument #360) on the edge (head) and a 12" PgyBack ChEg (instrument #342) on the rim.

The toms all use the 12" Univ T2 (instrument #169) on the head, tuned 0, -50, and -110. On their rim they have the 16" Birch T3R (instrument #156) tuned 0, -50, -110 as well. There are various muffling settings on these toms' head and rim and I played around with mic position as well.

Because this kit was modelled to suit the drumkit that a Danish band called "Gasonlin'" used back in the mid 1970'ies, I call it Gasolin' but it really doesn't sound exactly right yet. However, I found out that it is a pretty good all-round rock'n'roll kit, so the choice of song was fairly straightforward

I love tinkering with the sounds and things, so I am sure there will be more kits coming from me before too long. I am gonna hook up the MIDI things and see if I can get the kit posted in the Custom Kits section.

              Thanks for the feedback.

OK, I think I managed to do it

                  I posted it here

                  http://www.vdrums.com/forum/showpost...36&postcount=5

and I tested it, so at least it works on my machine/module.

OK, I thought it was time for a new video. I decided to use the V-Stage kit for this one with some sounds reassigned. I am making a few mistakes such as messy and untight bass drums and things, but hey... I certainly ain't perfect and the practice session was 5 minutes

I chose Lynyrd Skynyrd's "Gimme Three Steps" because I love that feel and the lyrics are not all that bad either.

                    Hope you enjoy

Thank you very much... Allow me to compliment you on your kit -- it looks awesome, man. I see, you too use the Iron Cobra from TAMA. I wonder if all drummers do these days ... it is a brilliant pedal.

After having a biopsy yesterday, I was very sore and could only sit in certain positions and stuff. Drumming was completely impossible but I had the bug and was drumsick like I don't know what... All I could think of was my TD-12 babe, and she said "come to mama", but I couldn't sit on the throne because I was kinda sore.

So, today I felt a little better and managed to make another video. I think it shows that I am a little sore and by the end of the song (which is rather short), I was really done playing for the day... Believe it or not, it was actually fun, despite the pain.

Like I said, I wanted a short and simple song, so I chose legendary Stevie Ray Vaughan and his excellent song (though it really ain't HIS song); Mary had a little Lamb

Once you get the bug, you will go through fire and water to drum... Hope you enjoy.

Hmm, I felt great today and with it being weekend and all, I made another one. I couldn't resist it ... I just felt productive, so I chose Aerosmith this time. After all, I am a rocker...

                            F.I.N.E.

This one is the V-Stage kit with the snare tuned down somewhat (head only), the rim is the default setting (which is 0).
