  • Porcaro Shuffle

More to the point the M_C_M shuffle cause I ain't no Porcaro. I got the drumless track of Rosanna off the Drum Discounters site and thought I'd give it a go. A drummer friend of mine taught me the basic groove many years ago. This is the first recording with my TD8, its a shame a lot gets lost in mp3's...

Hope the link works, never done this before...

What I can hear sounds good, but you need to bring yourself up in the mix a bit, IMO.

Any chance you'd post that drumless track?

Agreed, The mix sounded great in my studio in as a wav. But compressed to mp3 it lost a bit and I should have mixed more with the drums in mind, not the over all mix. I'll Know next time.

        The track is here...

I just never realize how fast this shuffle is until I sit down and try to play it. Then I realize how much FEEL there is in this tune that I just can't touch!

I know it has been posted before, bit it's worth another bump here:
Porcaro explains and demonstrates "Rosanna" beat (youtube)
He credits Purdie, Bonham, and even Bo Diddley (RIP) on that beat.

I have his DVD, with this example, He plays some other great shuffle and swing/rock grooves on it too. A great Vid, highly recommended...

Not bad, for a girl anyway. You really mash your left hand into that snare drum. I noticed that on some of your other vid's too...
