  • Addictive Drums at Worship Services

Well I decided to give play AD live for the first time today. It gave my V

drums a whole new sound. I was worried about the midi dropping out or

having a latency issue but all worked well. Due to HH mapping issues with

the TD12, I used the HH in the TD12 but the rest of the kit was AD's. There is

some nice preset kits, just did some tweaking for the low toms.

    Addictive Drums at Church?

Addiction is a form of bondage! Addictive Drums are obviously the work of the Devil, and have no place in a house of worship!

    Just yanking your chain!

So, you really like the sounds better than anything the module cranks out? Do you run AD from a tower or a laptop? At the sound booth or next to your kit?

    More details are always good!

I am using a Macbook pro hooked up via firewire to a Presonus firebox. TD12 connected

to the laptop via M-Audio usb cable. L and R outputs on Firebox to a Roland KC-350. TD12

main L and R outputs to another channel on the KC-350 (this is just for the HH). The

same KC-350 is hooked to another KC-350 and a KCW-1 subwoofer. The Presonus Firebox

works well for the added increase in volume. The toms are such an improvement over

the TD12 internal sounds. The great thing with AD is the ability to really fine tune the

sounds (EQ, FX, etc.) and to match the tone with the characteristics of the amps and

subwoofer. Something I has a hard time doing with just the TD12. I'm pleased!

Any vids or pics. You shouldn't tease us. I'm really considering taking my DTXtreme IIs to the church to use. Unfortunately, I haven't been able to do anything but homework lately. I even take it to church and do it downstairs. I need more time and less work. Grad school is taking its toll...

Yeah, some video or audio would be awesome. We'll take pics, too! I'm so sick of the snare & tom sounds that we're using with our TD-20 at our church that I'm about ready to try something like this out myself. I'm really pushing for a full acoustic kit with a plexi glass shield and mics....but they're reluctant to go that route it seems.

I have a Firebox, too, and a fairly new Core 2 Duo laptop (2GB RAM). I'm sure I could run Addictive Drums (at least) or possibly Superior 2.0.

I may bring my laptop and Firebox to practice this weekend and see if we can make it happen. But I'd love to hear some of your results from your services.
