  • TD-10 thrugh preamp or line in?

I notice that my TD-10 sounds much better if I connect it to my preamp inputs compared to the normal line in (I'm using a Delta 66 plus Omnistudio).

Any thougths about this? Do you usually connect the module to preamp inputs or to line in?

    Pierre.

Cool, szvook's back just in time to answer some questions for me!!

Should I get the SRM-450s or the Eon G2s?

How come I lose all my kits when the TDW-1 is installed?

            Does Behringer really suck?

What do you think about the new Rush album?

Are the BBE Sonic Maximizers cool?

What brand of e-kit should I buy?

I like to run 250' cables from the main outs of my TD-8 straight to the mixing board. Is that wrong?

How come...........oh, wait. Sorry. Got a little carried away there. I guess some things haven't changed at v-drums.com.

Welcome back. Pull up a chair and stay awhile.

I've got my both my acoustic and electronic drums going into my Mackie VLZ-1402 pro, the electronics in the 1/4 and the acoustic drums into the XLR inputs. I simply switch out the kit I'm not using. Then out of the sends on the back, or the pre-amped sends, those go into my DAW inputs. The mackie seems to give the signal a warmer tone and the ability to add or lower the amount of gain applied to the signal. I highly suggest this method to everyone. It works beautifully. And plus, it always looks to cool to have more faders and knobs and meters that you know actually do something.

My question has been already answered, it's obvious that the preamp inputs (if the pre amps are good) will produce a better sound. At least in my Delta OmniStudio.
Recently I also connected my Vdrums to a Mackie d8b through the MIC inputs (with pre amps) and it worked just fine. I even wasn't able to hear any noise as it was reported long ago in this forum. But it does happen if you connect a TD-10 output that has nothing assigned, a hell lot of noise BTW.

                        I recently purchased a Behringer Mic2200 preamp.

                        What a difference it made!

With the right settings one the preamp the Vdrums sound even better. Way more punch through the PA I am using. I can't wait to do some more recording.

                          szvook,

I just recently purchased a E-mu E4X sampler on Ebay. (a lot of good deals on Ebay) I, like yourself, am after that type of sound. The sounds on the sampler compared to the TD-10 exp. brain are like night and day. I have yet to record with it (I've only had it for 2 weeks), but the guys in my band were blown away by it. Sounds like I'm actually playing an acoustic kit! I'm not knocking the TD-10, don't get me wrong, but there's just something about acoustic samples. Even the cymbals are so real. Just awesome.

I had thought about a TD-20, but it's a little too pricey for me right now. I got a great deal on the sampler. (It came with 16 CD ROMS) Plus I like the idea of being able to add more sounds (drums or whatever) just by loading in a CD ROM. Just my $ .02.

                          Bryan
