  • digital out spdf question.

I just bought a M-Audio Ultra USB and a spdf coax cable. The M-Audio is set to external for the clock. Do I need to set the TD-20? I am getting no sound in Ableton live 6.0.1 or Cubase Studio 4.0. Both programs see the M-Audio do I need to buy a helment also?

    Hi Slammin6,

I assume you have some verion of the M-Audio control panel showing on your PC? Mac?

Make sure you have s/w returm, spdif return and master faders up to 0 or you may not get any level.

On the spdif settings tab make sure you have audio selected in the drop down.

Save your settings before you exit the control panel.

You don't need to set anything in the TD20 other than making sure everything is set to the master outputs (the S/Pdif outputs the same signal as the master outs). The S/Pdif is 44.1K and can only be master clock so you need to slave your M-Audio box to that.

Press 'tools' and 'F1' (monitor) to check that you have a signal going out the master outputs. Make sure the meters are set to 'master'.

I use the SPDF out of my TD-20 with Cubase all the time. You don't have to touch the TD-20.

You do have to enable the SPDF inputs in the ASIO control panel. Then select them in the Cubase Devices menu.

And SP is spot on about the 16/44.1. If you are trying to record something different, it won't work.

Make sure under the Devices dropdown in Cubase that the spdf inputs are activated. Also make sure the monitor button (the little button that looks like a speaker) for your track is activated.

              Maudio cubase.

              Guys,
Thanks for the help you all did great. I have a couple more problems Cubase still has no sound. I noticed in Cubase that the mAudio for the SPDIF has a L & R channel and only the left one is active. It dose see the other mono connections but only the stereo channels are active.
