Your sound card most likely has a 1/8" stereo mini plugs. Get a converter to convert RCA phono plugs on your tape deck to the stereo plug. Open up your mixer and set your levels and go on with your bad self.
You can then record to an MP3, wav file or even burn a CD if you want. Quality won't be that of a CD, but depending on your original recording, it can be acceptable.
I recorded into an old Tascam portastudio 4 track cassette (until it recently bit the dust). I then transferred to the PC.
It worked for me.
