Daniel, Did you buy these and are you using the gen 16 system now? what do you think? I tried them 2xs before with the old pick ups but never got anywhere. now I'm looking at them again..Feedback?

Hey redsumsum...yep I bought these. I have 4 DCPs and lots of the Nickel series cymbals with the Direct Source pickups. There is no comparison to the old pickups...an extremely vast difference indeed. The Access Tool is the key to these. Master that...and the possibilities are endless. I'm much more partial to the hats than anything....but with "time spent" (like any other module) even the rides and crashes can be carved into useful tones. Your ear and tastes will be the deciding factor just like it would be if you were trying out A cymbals accept all you have to do with these is keep tweaking until you like it. Also FX tones are endless and make nice accents when you need them.

IMO, much like Roland modules...they sound so much better in a mix and/or through a PA than by themselves also. YMMV

The unofficial Gen16 forum run by Julia. http://gen16.freeforums.org/index.php has a thread with lots of presets for these...and even new presets for the Buffed Bronze series. I don't have any of the BB yet, however I have heard they are much "warmer" sounding and lean more toward the "traditional" tones of A cymbals that most familiar with. This to me was evident in the vids when they came out.
