Are you looking to buy this or are you selling it?

I personally don't see this as a great deal if you are looking to purchase it.

Alrighty best thing for people to do if they don't agree with prices is to PM the person. Don't torpedo someone's listing in front of the whole forum. What goes around comes around. This very habit has gotten people banned from Vdrums.com and it is just rude.

The guy drops a link on here and nothing else? I suggest there was nothing wrong with the questioning if the OP was buying or selling. As a 'whole forum' of drummers (or eh hem) sellers, we are also here to afford some protection and any advice that may help others. Now, I put the 'two and two' together and assumed the 'Doug' in the nic and the 'Doug' in the ad are the same and that 'Doug' is the seller. However, I can also see someone questioning the OP since the title alerts that this is no Scam and then drops a link and nothing more. And the reaction is dead on....

Wow.... my intentions was not to smear a listing of someone trying to sell here. I mean it said "no scam" here so I assumed perhaps he was looking to purchase?

Look, if my opinion about how good a deal looks to me is going to get me banned here then to hell with it - I don't feel welcome. I didn't come out and say that deal sucks or the seller must be high... I simply said I don't see this as a great deal - is that really smearing someone's ad? Why the hell would I PM him? I WANT others to see my opinion... isn't that the point of a forum?

The "if my opinion isn't welcome then I'm leaving" stuff is the epitome of childish. It's a community. There is some behavior that you need to police yourself, or others will police it for you.

I too am sick of people responding to posts just to complain about the asking price for something they're never going to buy anyway. There's this great concept called the free market, and it generally resolves itself. Nobody needs someone else's input about whether or not they think a price with which they are completely uninvolved is 'fair', and all this kind of pointless bickering does is make it impossible for people to sell things without cutting their own throats.

Dude, give it a rest! Did you happen to read the thread or comprehend it? The OP tosses out a link and says it is not a scam. Nothing more PERIOD. He did not say he was selling it or wondering if it was a scam and interested in buying it. Sopranos replied if the OP was buying it, it wasn't such a hot deal, in his opinion. As a 'community of drummers' I have seen it many times, someone will post a link and ask 'what do you think?' People offer input. Same thing here.

Not to mention we are now over 2 full days past the OP post and he has not come back to clarify.

Many people write in asking for an idea of what a fair market value is...and even though to a certain extent, i feel it is a personal thing (ie what I want and can spend on a piece of kit might be far less or more than you can and will), it is a good thing to find out if you are being taken for a ride, or getting a good deal. Knowledge is a good thing.

RULES FOR POSTING TO THE VDRUMS.COM FORUM

Below are the rules for posting here at the VDrums.com Forum. 2. Civility and Decorum
Politeness is rule one here. We expect spirited debates, as long as the people involved extend one another basic respect. Disagreements are inevitable, but please focus on kindness. Attack the idea; not the person presenting it.

                      ...

If you feel that someone has crossed the line and offended you, please contact them first via PM to suggest that they reconsider their post. If this does not remedy the problem feel free to PM one of the moderators with your concern. The moderators will take swift and appropriate action. Please do not retaliate with posts to try and humiliate people publicly.

                      ...

                      7. Disruptive Behavior
The moderators reserve the right to take action against a poster who is disrupting the board. This includes violations listed in the other rules and behavior we have not yet foreseen. Since this rule is general, moderators will attempt to correct the problem by warning the violator (via PM or in the thread) and giving them a chance to explain their behavior. Moderators will take further action only if necessary.

Perhaps you misunderstood my post as a complaint, however, you would be wrong.... I didn't complain about the price I just offered my opinion to the OP if he was interested in that deal (which, by the way, was posted on another classified website).... the ad itself wasn't even posted here.

Secondly, if "nobody needs someone else's input about whether or not they think a price is fair" then why do we see it everyday? Why do we see posts about whether we think deals are good or not?

Also, where did you see the quote "if my opinion isn't welcome then I'm leaving"? If you take the time to actually read the post you will see that I said if I get banned because of my opinion then so be it.

Lastly, you dropped in here for what exactly? What is your valuable input for the OP? Speaking of pointless.....
