  • Newb question, how does no midi in affect the td15?

I guess it says it all in the title, does the td 11 have midi in?

  • #2
Of the newest td modules only the 30 has midi in.
TD-9 , 12 , 20 and some of the older td's also have midi in.
You cannot use another instrument / pad to get the module sounds via midi without a midi in on the module.
In other words for example want to add more than 4 more things to hit and hear the sounds of a td-15 module? Think cow-bell, roto-toms, chimes, tamborine, 3 extra splash / china cymbals, etc.
    Not without midi in.
    Confused yet?
Is midi in really needed? It can be. I am glad I have it!
Is it a must have? No not really.
Just depends on what you want to do with your kit. and of course how much $$ you want to spend.
As always just my opinion of course.
By the way, welcome to the freak show!

Welcome to the forums! You should post a nice intro with pics in the Foyer, and tech questions like this go in the Technical thread...more tech heads read that section and you will get much faster and more responses. Have fun!

The effect of no midi-in is I won't buy it.
My kit depends on MIDI-in though.
        Mini-kit: TD-9 + Alesis Control Pad + Alesis Sample Pad + PDX-6 snare
Micro-kit: Handsonic HPD-20 + an old pair of hands.
Speakers: QSC-K10 "thumper", DBR-10 "little thumper"
