Was wondering if anyone in this forum had any interesting and origional ideas for lighting up a drum kit. I've seen the standard X-mas lights and the rope lights used, which looks cool, but thought there must be some really cool ideas floating around in your heads. Our jam shack (currently under construction) will have a ton of black lighting, a disco ball (gotta have it) with dedicated pin lighting and 2 fog machines (having too much fun). We are planning on putting on a little performance for 30+ friends new years eve (provided construction is complete) and I would love to add something special to my set. Any Ideas out there ?

I will post some pic's of our jam shack upon completion (if anyone is interested of course)

    Thanks again!!

Computer case modding has been getting into lighting a lot lately (although a lot of it is borrowed directly from the car lighting craze). You might be able to find some parts from that realm. I know that they make small neon tubes that are sound-sensitive, that might be useful...

      Fire always gets attention.

Light your drums on fire... Get a little gasoline down first, and light em up.....if you puddle enough gas on the heads, it will splash into fireballs that spew into the crowd...

Seriously though - check out Adrian Young's OCP kit...that is very cool...

SInce you have fog machines, try to get red and green pin spots all around your kit, and snag a fog machine for yourself...

Maybe build a model train around your riser....

You'se guys are crazy...crazy I tell ya. Actually I'm kinda liking those EL Cables (Glowire) they're using for PC Modding. All the funky colours you get with neon but much cheaper. You also have the option for Sound sensitivity which allows the EL Cable(s) to flash and react to sound waves in the area (adjustable). Not sure about costs yet (cant seem to find any prices). Found the site at www.sunbeamtech.com. Other gadgets there as well.

          Thanx for the idea Pjames.

Since there's plenty of smoke, a pair of those Ahead sticks with lasers in 'em (about $300) would make an entertaining display.

But remember the warning - do not look directly into laser with remaining eye.

How about a slide projector or In Focus/laptop machine projecting behind you, ideally on billowing smoke? Download some cool photos or graphics, pictures or videos of the band or of the guests, or play strange movies with the DVD player in your laptop.? Even just a "light show" - you could make your own designs in paintshop or powerpoint.
