  • Strange Amp.Question

    Hi all,

Yesterday I was at a party talking to a guy who played the Yamaha DTX Express.

He told me he used his (Labtec?) computer amplifier to amp hisE drums. He said it worked wonderful!
He removed the set from his computer and hooked it up to the Yamaha module

Any of you V drummers already tried this?

    Cheerio.......Sjoerie

    PS
Today I cracked the head of my KD80. Been playing it for 5 months with double Pearl pedals.
Isn't 5 months a little fast for a head to crack?
(Mesh head are supposed to be "unbreakable")

Dont know about the amp thing, but 5 months is definitely too fast. I have been playing the same heads for 3 years now. In my opinion you must be some kind of big, very strong guy.

Sounds like you need different beaters on that head, seems quick to me if stores can have people on them for months or years with the original heads, and those people have no regard for anything..

As far as the amp thing goes, that's possible. It's not gonna be mind numbingly loud, but if it's a sub/satellite speaker setup, you'll get a good amount of bass and stereo spread. My Cambridge Soundworks speakers sounded decent when I would hit the drums and the computer was like 6-8 feet away. I didn't wanna push them very hard, but they were definately audible and sounded like drums, etc. I imagine if they were mounted on the rack upright posts in front of me, with the sub up in the air too, they could be pretty decent for practicing. I've thought about this in the past actually.. Like Roland's 3 piece monitor setup, only less power (not that their's has enough anyways

        Labtech

        Hi,

Labtech makes mainly amplified speakers for Computers... some are quite "beefy" with a Subwoofer and so but IMHO they can at the most be used for home monitoring of your electronic kit (or even better as they were meant to be uset for game sound and such) ! Also I doubt you really get the full spectrum of the drum sounds... but hey... If the guy is happy, no worries...

Yeah, exactly.. And by practicing, I meant just practicing the drums, not rehearsing with a band btw.. no way would that work..
