  • Finally Heard VDRums live, dissapointed

Went to the Rush concert last night, saw them at the Verizon Wireless in Irvine.

Something must have been wrong last night. During The Trees the cymbals sounded messed up. The Hihat was overly loud in the closed position it seemed, and the crashes didn't sound at all so far as I could hear. Neil started reaching back and hitting his Zildjians not too long into it. The drums and percussion sounds were ok.

Red Sector A it seemed to be better (second set) and the Solo it was OK.

Any comments? Did Neil's tech screw up last night, or what?

Equipment failures are very common on the road. Everybody usually shrugs and says, **** happens.
Drumkat Turbo 4.5, Emulator X3, Superior 2.1, Roland Fantom XR, DTXtreme III, SPD-20 etc.......

I saw them in Cincinnati (4th row center) and everything sounded great the whole night. The V's sounded fine.

I was curious. It seemed that something was wrong when I saw them, and since I have very little experience with E-drums (but will buy a kit soon) I wanted to know if what happened the other night was how it was supposed to sound or not.

I am quite releaved (in a way) to hear it was just a glitch.

The whole night all the members of the band kept motioning for the volume to be turned up. At the beginning of the show it was so low my wife didn't feel the need to use Ear-plugs. At the end of the first set our ears were not even close to being numb. 2nd set they must have talked to someone, because at the end our ears were finally noticably numb.

Anyways, one of the guys I went with has a DTXpress, and thought the sounds on the Roland were normal, and just a downside of E-Drums. I didn't have the experience or knowledge to argue, so I came here.

So, now I know, get a Roland, not a Yamaha and fiddle with it until it sounds right.

Get whatever you like, there are no right or wrong answers when it comes to electronic drums. I use a DTX V2.0 midied into an Emu E4XT with Interactive Drums and Drum Doctor CD's loaded up. I sold the Kat.
