Hi all. I have several questions, but regarding many different topics, so I chose to just put them all into one big class-action query.
First, the Roland Rack. More specifically the older ones, I believe it is called the Trap Stand. Does it really need the reinforcement? This could go for most Roland racks, too I suppose. Those flat metal reinforcers that go from the foot bars to the vertical pipes; necessary? I noticed the V-Club rack doesn't have them. I didn't think the things hold enough weight to warrant it.
Secondly, this is a tracking question. I'm running a TD-5. I use a PD-7 as my snare. While it tracks my playing fairly well, rolls are a problem. Is it the module or my snare pad? I've never sat on an E-kit that had a PD-7 or -9 as a snare pad, and the only other pads I have are PD-5's. If I put a mesh pad(e.g., a PD-80R) on my TD-5K, will it give me my double-strokes and buzz rolls? Or does the module just not track those things well enough?
Thirdly, this deals with sound reinforcement. If any of you read my "Drumming In The Pits" post, you know that I had to kibosh the e-kit because of volume and sound difficulties (I'll be adding to that post shortly). To ensure that the next time I have to scrap my e's in favor of a's, it's because of tone and not of volume, I'll probably want to invest in some amplification. I've seen demonstrations of the new TDA-400, and I have to say, I'm impressed. However, that thing has a lot of bulk to it, and size of equipment is somewhat of a factor. Does anyone know anything about the PM-1? Seems to me it's be adequate for small gigs, and for larger ones, it could be hooked into a larger PA, yes? For my own monitoring, is there any reason I couldn't just use my headphones?
Well, I think that's about it for me. Thank you all in advance, hope to hear from you soon.
