  • To My Testament...Drum shell on a string..

To my own testament A little while back I made a post about acoustics or vdrums as a second set. Post is at address below.

    http://vdrums.com/forum/showthread.p...5&pagenumber=1

I did end up getting a set of pearl sessions I found hiding in the back of the local drum store.....but more importantly, I remember the post got on the subject of tuning drums to the shells.

Found an interesting article online that talks about why to do it and another method. I knew I wasnt crazy

Scroll down to "the pitch of the shell"

I know i didnt do it in the store...

Surely you must know...I didnt do it in the store. I'm not sure ill do at home, but when it boils down to it, when you really want to hyper-tune your drums, I thought it was an intersting point, and once tried, you'll be a believer.

    Anyhow,
What i picked up was a new set of Pearl Sessions, 100% Maple, 6 ply, 10, 12 14, 16, 16x20 , a Chad Smith Snare, a couple of cheaper stands and a cheesy cymbal pack to get me goin. Got the whole gig for well under $2000 too. Toms are the shorter toms and the floors arent floors (as i notice is kinda common today) but rather rack mounted. So got the tom stand in the whole bootle as well.

Marine blue fade, For sure beautiful. Going to take some pics right now, have em up in a few minutes.

          LOL

actually i do. My brother and I own a small telephone company (www.2k911.com) and I have them setup in our warehouse. We're in a center actually, so i can only play in the evenings. Works pretty well actually.

No one said you (or other persons) are crazy. We only discussed about the relevance in practice as long as matched shells are concerned:

            1. is the pitch of a drum shell still that strong when the hardware is put back again to that shell
            2. does DW or a drum shop really match every shell?

Here's another interesting article that talks in even further depth about why and how to accomplish what we are philosophising about.
