  • Reggae/Dub Beats and Patterns?

    Hey, all.

I've always been a big fan of reggae and dub. Anybody have some good pointers to reggae-type technique tips, music, etc?

    Thanks.

Watch this. Good stuff for basic reggae feel.

Drumtech tutor Erik Stams takes you through some reggae grooves.

Man, I could have used this. I found myself sitting in with a Reggae band when I was last in the Caribbean. Just playing along will help you learn tons.

Great link, thanks! I love reggae music and played it on guitar for years in my old band, but I could just never make it work on the drums, I always got lost somehow...yet it seems so simple. I searched around on youtube some more and there are some great tutorials about the different beats.

          Good stuff

Thanks for the tips. Yeah, the beats do seem simple but it's a lot different than what I'm used to, and I'm seeing a lot of combinations which aren't all that easy/intuitive. I've got a lot of work ahead of me.
