  • TD-10 + V-Cymbal Flight Case NEWS UPDATE!

    Hi fellow TD-10 owners.

    Today is a sad day.

    I wrote a few months ago saying that I had spoken to a rep from Roland UK who told me that she was in development of a new TD-10 Flight case that also housed the V-Cymbals.

    It was to be released this month and was going to be demoed at the Summer Namm.

    Well I just got an email from her: Below is her words and then my response to her.

    I AM VERY ANGRY ABOUT THIS AND I URGE ALL OF YOU TO WRITE TO HER AND LOG YOUR PROTEST AND YOUR REQUEST THAT THEY CHANGE THEIR DECISION

    Her email is: [email protected]

    I got a little bit angry when I wrote this, so sue me if I get a bit over dramatic...but it's how I feel!

    Emails.

    ~~~Snip~~~
    We have decided not to manufacture flight cases for the TD-10 kits. The reason for this is because after extensive research, we decided that the demand for these kits were not as high as they were for the TD-6 and TD-8 kits. Once these kits have been out in the market place for a while and if we get more demand for flight cases for the TD-10 kits, and we decide to go ahead with manufacturing them, I will keep your details on file and email you asap.
    ~~~MY RESPONSE~~~

    Hello again

    Needless to say I'm VERY disappointed. I had thought that after producing the TD10 flight case for the US that you MUST do the same for the UK.

    I guess the UK loses out again!

    On another point, I'm sure that the number of TD-10 kits sold is far less than that of the TD-6 or 8....and yet you haven't stopped selling the TD-10 or producing equipment / products for it? Why not?

    Surely if it doesn't make sense to produce one set of a product range due to low sale to market figures then logically you must stop producing all of them!

    This is NOT what I want. I didn't spend a year deciding to buy Yamaha or Rolands top of the line drumset to get 'stiffed' on further products because Roland decided that it's a niche market and not worth your R&D funds.

    Of course it's a niche market. State of the Art VERY EXPENSIVE Electronic drums! By the gods, you can't GET a more niche market if you tried.

    And how does Roland / Extras Direct reward these people who purchase your flagship model?

    By losing out to the less expensive / less versitile and NON-PROFESSIONAL e-drum kits!!!

    No wonder this world is going down the plughole with corporate thinking like that.

    I'm not saying it's your 'personal' fault - at least I hope that it wasn't your sole decision to NOT produce this item (which as I've said if ANYONE from Roland could be BOTHERED to go read the VDrum Forums and search for TD10 cases questions the market for this is huge within the TD10 population.)

    I'm sure that the cost of producing the TD10 case are not that much higher than the TD8 but if you followed Rolands established pricing proceedure of charging far more for the TD-10 stuff, then you could EASILY have made a decent markup on the TD10 flight case - prob more so that the TD6.

    I do realise that, as usual, I'm flogging a dead horse, that it's doing me no good to tell you what I feel and think - but if someone doesn't in this stupid commercialised / corporateized world then we are all doomed.

    Seen Blade Runner by any chance?

    Hmmm.

    Thanks Alita. And thanks Roland. For NOT supporting your professional / musician customers.

    Maverick

    (Running off to find more cardboard boxes to transport her 5500.00 Roland TD-10 drum kit)

    Grrrrrrrrrr.
Working...
